Is there a serial killer in Jeff Davis parish?

A family search party in Jefferson Davis Parish Saturday discovered a body believed to be that of a Jennings teen who has been missing since Nov. 2, authorities said. Brittney Gary’s family began the search Saturday morning and a member of the search party contacted 911 at around 12:30 p.m. after finding the body, according to a news release from Sheriff Ricky Edwards. It is the seventh body discovered in rural parts of the parish and the fifth to turn up within a two- to three-mile radius in the last three years. The first three bodies were discovered in canals. The last four bodies have been found along or on rural roadways in the parish. Most were discovered in a decomposed state. The first six women knew each other or were known to have lived the same high-risk lifestyle involving drugs and in some cases prostitution. The search Saturday was conducted approximately 1/2 mile south of La. 1126 on Keystone Road. Tattoos on the body found Saturday are similar to Gary’s tattoos, although the identity has not yet been confirmed, the news release stated. Teresa Gary, Brittney’s mother, expressed concern last week that her daughter could become the next victim of a possible serial killer in the parish. She declined to comment Sunday. Brittney Gary has been missing since Nov. 2 when she left her South Doyle Street home between 5:15 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. headed to the nearby Family Dollar Store. Authorities said a surveillance video shows Brittney Gary making a purchase about that time and then leaving. That was the last time anyone has acknowledged seeing her. Teresa Gary also was concerned for her daughter’s safety because of Brittney’s connection with four of the other victims. Brittney was a cousin to Kristen Gary Lopez, 21, who was found March 2007 in a rural canal south of Welsh. Brittney also knew Crystal Shay Benoit Zeno, 23, who was found in a decomposed state Sept. 11 off Lacour Road in rural Jefferson Davis Parish. Brittney also was close friends with Laconia Shontel “Muggy” Brown, 23, who was found on a rural road in Jennings on May 12. And she knew Whitnei Charlene Dubois, 26, who was found on a rural road just south of Jennings.

It would seem that there is definitely a serial killer on the prowl. Seven women in a small area within a couple of years - all with connections. He's smart, too,...seems he knows how to cover his tracks. Here we go again; women everywhere need to be on the lookout and stay safe!

Investigators are saying the two could also be behind the deaths of three other victims.

51-year-old Frankie Richard and 22-year-old Hannah Conner, both of Jennings, were booked Wednesday on second degree murder charges.

This arrest is connected to the murder of Kristen Gary Lopez.

Deputies say Lopez's nude body was found in a rural area of the parish in March of 2007.

The investigation into her death did not lead to any arrests until now.

Investigators say the names of the two suspects, whom are uncle and niece, have come up often in this investigation.

Sheriff Rickey Edwards says the two are involved in the drug circle, which he says is the link between them and the victim.

51-year-old Richard was arrested on Monday on an unrelated rape charge. Conner was picked up in Vermilion Parish.

Sheriff Edwards is now saying that Conner may also be connected to three other murders dating back two years.

Sheriff Edwards says the first victim in the parish was found in 2004 in a flooded canal.

Since then three others have been discovered, with the most recent found just last weekend.

My cousin fell victim to this serial killer 3 years ago, and I pray that the person/s are discovered and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I know that some people may comment that these young women were drug addicts and lived a risky lifestyle, but that does not give anyone the right to take their lives away from them and the people who love them! I've heard stories of the killer/s being officers from the JPD! If that is so these murders will never be solved unless the FBI or other higher law officials become involved with the investigations!! Families of the victims should unite and fight for the capture and conviction of these evil people!!!!

Hey Rich, I am a relative of 2 of the victims and also from Jennings. I no longer live there but I agree that it is going to take an outside agency to bring this nonsense to an end. The citizens of Jennings have nothing to brag about when it comes to the people they rely on to protect them.

I have read all of the articles on these 7 murder victims and see drugs as a common denonminator. Of course all of the victims were loved and had families.
I also agree that another agency needs to investigate, but it is a matter of jurisdiction.

I have a question. Was Brittney Gary related to Det. W. Gary?

Behavior Analysis of suspect: Superficially glib and charming, self-confident, appears non-threatening, physically strong, frequents area where girls are from, quick to anger, lures young girls with alcohol and drugs, especially crack cocaine, may have a criminal record. This was issued by the Sheriff of Jeff Davis Parish.

Also of interest, a friend of mine who is a Criminal Justice major has said, "I think he is in his 40's, I also think more that he is white. I think he is picking his females in that general area because he is very familiar with it, he feels very comfortable there.
I don't think this is some broke looser that is doing this either, I think he works and maintains a small family.
I think he will kill and kill until he is caught.
He is very clever and is covering his tracks very well. I think he lures the young naive girls in his vehicle with drugs and money..when he gets them there he gets them really high and intoxicated...I don't think he can kill if they are straight, I think drugging them makes him feel comfortable with what he does. He finds pleasure when he reads the bodies were found...I think he wants them found, he takes no trouble to really try to dispose of the bodies.
I think he will soon kill again..its in his blood now and when they have killed this many they just boil over for another kill....I think he is smart enough that it will take the authorities a few more kills to catch this one, he seems like he has a very bold personality."

I met a very stange man recently. I beleive he lives in a fema trailer in Lebleu Settlement. he brags about killing people in the war. He is of Iris decent, a loner, gives me the creeps. Every fact that I have checked out including the name he uses is not correct. He wears military clothes but I called Fort Polk and he does not exist in their records.

i always say. listen to your gutfillings because you never know. and if you have a weird felling about this dude apparently its for a reason.as a woman i say we all need to watch our backs and our naborsback to at this point no one is safe.
