I am pro-cockfighting,If Blanco has really said she would support a cockfighting ban, she has sealed her fate of NOT being re-elected. Every local parish government has a right to ban cockfighting, the state needs to butt out.

The bottom line is cockfighting is a very easy target so they are going after it on the way to there real agenda. It is allowed only in two states Louisiana and New Mexico. Cockfighting has been illegal in many states for a long time. Recently they have pursued the issue in the southern part of the United States and been victorious on most occasions. They tried real hard in Louisiana and failed, but they will be back because the spotlight is on them. People it's time to open our eyes. All the hunters, fisherman, cattlemen, horseman, Christians, the average animal lover that thinks they find a good home for all the stray pets and even the concerned parent could not support these groups after visiting these websites. You may not agree with cockfighting, but the cockfighters I know would never stoop to levels this low.
NOW OF COURSE WE KNOW THERE IS BUT ONE STATE WITH THE RIGHT TO FIGHT GAMECOCKS.

I have the same right that you have. I will do everything I can to make sure this barbaric sports is eliminated in the state of Louisiana. Do you really enjoy watching two roosters fight to the bloody end in such a violent manner? Do you really? Maybe it's time for the fine people in Louisiana to find other pasttimes than to witness such a bloody sport. We're getting closer to the end of this torture for sport. Maybe you can find something less repulsive to enjoy then!

Gamecock fighting is an ancient sport, cockers have passed down their farms and bloodlines for many generations. These are not your regular yard chickens, they ae a very aggresive breed of gamefowl, even if I didnt fight them they would fight to the death in the wild, a much gruesome death than by the knives or gaffs they wear. I spend thousands of dollars on my roosters, from feed to medications, they are well keptand just to let you know many of my birds do not even make it to the pit, onlly my best warriors do. Not every bird dies at the pit many survive, the handler can call the match at any time so to save his bird and many do. Cockfighting brings in millions of dollars into the parishs and cities that hold the derby`s monies they need. Louisian is one of the poorest states in the United States how can you justify outlawing something that brings in so much money? People come from all over the United Staes to fight and bet on these roosters, and now that New Mexico`s government has decided to force its will on cockers there Louisiana businesses will be able to make even more money, Motels, resturants, feed stores, etc.. will lose. The people that ar4e backing the ban "The Humane Society, and PETA wish to not just end cockfighting but many other animal related sports too! Hunting , fishing, the fur trade, even the eating of meat, and poultry which by the way these animals are treated way worse than any gamefowl that fights. Do you hunt or fish, do you eat steaks or fried chicken, how about lobster or our famous Cajun tradition crawfish boils? All the steaks and fried chicken you have consumed those animals were mass peoduced and slaughteres for your eating pleasure, why is that ok? Yes I enjoy watch cock fights, watching my warrior cock bravely stand and give his all, some die, some win to become brood stock and live the life of luxury the rest of his life. This is about Democracy and freedom you want to take away something that you dislike, you probably have never even been to a cockfight nor have ever stepped on a gamefowl farm.

You want to know what I find repulsive ! ABORTION, HOMOSEXUALITY, PORN, CHILD MOLESTERS, DRUGS, WAR, MURDERS, CHILD ABUSE things of this nature. A chicken has no rights, not even close to rights that humans have, My right to fight gamefowl over rides a chickens right period. You have a right to your opinion BUT you have no Right to tell me what is moral or immoral or what is right or wrong! I look forward to this coming before the State politicians again, it will be defeated again.

I agree that there are many things that are accepted and repulsive in our society. Cockfighting is one of those things. You want to have rights to fight chickens that cannot defend themselves. You drug the chickens and attached weapons on their feet. You must be quite a human being. I would understand why you enjoy PORN a lot sooner than watching a chicken bleed.

Okay, what if I would like to strap on fighting gear to your feet and place you in a fighting pen with another of the same because I enjoy watching greedy Cajuns bleed to death. Undoubtedly, you would find a base for people who enjoy that sort of behavior too. Forget the roosters dying in the ring. What if I enjoyed watching humans do the same? Imagine the money the real sportsman would make. Hotels, betting, handlers, restaurants! We could probably find folks here who would pay top dollar for that glamourous entertainment, don't you think? People you know enjoy those blood sports anyway. And the winner or survivor would become wealthy men. Think of all the $$$ to be made? Does that sound okay just because some people enjoy that? No gloves, just pointed gaffes to shred the flesh off of your opponent. Do chickens apply these devices of torture to themselves or is there someone just as bright as the chicken to help? Oh and you would probably be well kept. If you earn enough money for those greedy enough to participate, they would probably spend thousands of dollar on meds for you too.
What a barbaric thought? And to excuse it by counting the dollars such an event would provide to the poor state of LA is incredible. LA is on the bottom of the list for just about everything you can measure, including the quality of blood sports. Is this the only way? What an insult and a shame!

What do you mean they can not defend themselves?, against me?, as if any animal you consume can defend themselves equally against you! NO! a majority of cockers do NOT drug their roosters , though some do, it is considered by most cockers like cheating, as steroids are in professional sports, though it isnt against the rules in cock fighting. For many, many years drugs werent used to inhance the energy of the roosters. You havent even been to a cock fight nor have you ever spent any time on a game farm to understand anything about cockers, you are only spouting out what you have read and sen on T.V. Yes, I bet you would understand someone watching PORN, probably because you do, you dont even understand what porn has influnanced in many young peoples lives and has made our society a sexually perverted and that is a bigger and better thing to stand against than cock fighting. Cock fighting hasnt influannced anyone to go out and rape murder or rob, but you want to outlaw it just because you dont like it.

LOL, You just discribed the professional wrestling! Though many arent killed, some have been and many are physically harmed for life for the entertainment of millions of humans that flock to see them. LOL,Buddy there is a BIG differance between a HUMAN and a CHICKEN, you insult ever HUMAN when you want to give a animal, a game fowl or a tree the same rights that humans have. You know nothing about gamecocks, or their nature they would kill in the wild, but slow and allot more painful for the loser.

The modern animal rights movement is not what it seems. Today's activists have perverted once-sensible animal welfare goals by putting animals ahead of human beings and employing a "by any means necessary" philosophy to achieve their goals of "total animal liberation."

Led by PETA, the Humane Society of the United States, and other activist groups, the animal liberation movement does not seek to improve animals' lives. Its goal is to place unnecessary restrictions on ordinary people like you.

Today's activists want to force you to eat nothing but beans and greens; and wear nothing but cotton, rayon, and rubber. They want to ban hunting, fishing, zoos, rodeos, and circuses. Some want to permanently end Kosher slaughter. They even want to outlaw the use of animals in the search for cures for AIDS, Parkinson's Disease, and cancer. And a growing number take the law into their own hands, crossing the line from peaceful protest to violent crime.

It's a terrible scam. The world deserves to know the truth.

How absolutely disgusting that professional "anythings" would do that? Shows you to what degree some humans will go to amuse themselves in such a horrendous fashion. Shame! Shame! Shame! The blood sport of cockfighting is bizarre! Period! And soon to be banned here in Louisiana. Whippee!

Better learn to knit, 2. Of course there is no blood in knitting unless some creeps finds a way to do that.

Sorry, I'm not sure that most people would be insulted because some compassionate humans don't think it's a full Saturday night of fun to watch any living thing shred to death with lots of blood and gore. I'm not insulted because others don't wish to witness or encourage or particpate in this barbaric sport. In fact, I'm encouraged by the fact that many fine people in LA agree that it is a repulsive way to spend any time and money. I imagine some men take their dates to such a bloodfest?
