Yes, "Butch" Campbell was the guy implicated by an undercover FBI coke smuggler ,extorting 1 million for landing rights at a Morgan County Airport with Campbell, the county judge exe. and the county sherriff getting $5000 ea. weekly for the privilege, or was that HENRY VANCE?

The FBI originally thought they were getting coal money.
All this took place about the time much of eastern Kentucky's finest, sherriffs, police cheifs , district judges. county judge exes. and troopers were rounded up and charged in "OPERATION LEVITICUS".
Lester Burns a state senator and former state trooper even was convicted for drug trafficing and had to pay 175 thou. that his client had paid him in a murder conviction.
Even the Fayette Co. Sherriff Taulbee was convicted of drug trafficing. A Fayette Co. Cop, a Murphy was convicted of killing his wife along with drug conviction.
My memory just isn't good anymore, but I remember lots of sherriffs, judges and troopers from eastern and central Kentucky that kept the drug enforcement people busy from the mid-70s to late 80s.
Can anyone clear up my memory on these characters?

No, you're correct it was Campbell not Vance. I don't know about Taulbee being convicted of drug offenses. He was arrested in connection to cash being found in the ceiling of his office, however it was linked to misappropriation of funds.

All those E Ky law enforcement officers who went down, that happened in the early 90s, outside the timeline of the Bluegrass Conspiracy.

There have been dozens over the years, the ones I refer to are the ones involved and mentioned in drugs , murder and racketeering from the mid 70's thru the mid 80's, and most were tried and convicted in the time frame.
Some of the characters continue to make news thru today.

For the past several years the Badge Collectors of Oregon County Missouri have carried on an operation trying to get a homocide investigation started into the "unexplained death" of Mrs. Willeen Joy Barrett who was fo0und dead in Thayer Missouri on or about March 4, of 1996, then her body sent straight to the local funeral home on orders of the very Police Officer who Joy had stated would "kill her" if he ever found out that she was "telling" on him for "using her".

This story of Police corruption can be seen on the Thayer Missouri Forums under the title of "A mysterious life, W.J. Barrett".

This police corruption has been going on in Oregon County Missouri for over 15 years with numerous people turning up dead of "unknown causes" after they became threats to the former county Sheriff and his henchmen of the Thayer Missouri Police Department.

See also "Thayer Police Officer" and the "Yellow Cadillac"" story which pertains to a blonde woman who would work in the same pattern as this Anita Madden menctioned in the Blue Grass Conspiracy story.

See also Skeletons in Thayer, Mailman, Escape from Alca Seltzer, Your Town, Chesnut Fire,(required reading concerning Joy Barrets death),
Bride 2, Sam Noakes arrested, Why Marge Shipp should be our mayor, rumor has it, Inside the truth, Former Oregon County sheriff busted for Meth,(in the Alton Missouri, west Plains Missouri and Thayer forums, Hurricane Creek murder, in the Alton Missouri forums,.

The Badge Collectors read the Blue Grass Conspiracy book (thanks to the Reverand Tom Brown of Fayetteville Arkansas) and they have pursued this case concerning the "unexplained death" of Joy Barrett for years now and them receiving death threats from the very mouth of one of the law officers beleived to be involved in this beleived murder and of course there would be no need for these death threats unless the Badge Collectors "were onto to something".

There are several people as stated before who have turned up dead who became threats to exposing something on the corrupted Sheriff and Police of Thayer and there may be more if something is not done to "get to the bottom" of why these already dead people turned up dead
after they became threats to the former police in control of the county's law-legal system.

If anyone is concerned with seeing justice done concerning corrupted cops then we suggest you read about what has been going on in Oregon County Missouri for years. Thank you, have a nice day.

yes it is sad, i find it weird that this hasn't been revealed before. everyone here has just assumed she was dead, maybe it's better for her if they keep thinking that.
I tought they found her body in an area close to Lambert's house down on the Ky. river. She's Doug Flynn's sister, the guy that was a star baseball player for the Reds.

You have to be dangerous when you have to answer to Escobar and Ochoa. What are you going to tell them,"oh, by the way this girl Melanie is telling on us." haha!

Has the jewels business been a means to laundry this drug money in the Bluegrass?
Is the "jewel business" involved in money-laundering your reference to the chain of Castle Jewelry stores throughout Kentucky? The chain of pawn/jewelry stores are owned by Bluegrass Conspiracy players Jimmy Lambert and former governor Jullian Carroll's nephew Phil Block. If that is what you are ferring to, then I would have to say anything is possible.

The whole crew was rats, sissies, and punks. That's why they tried to rob the Columbian's. They knew they would be exposed for who they really were soon. Momma's boy's don't do well in the drug trafficing business. They always try to steal right off the bat. Then run and hide like little girls, or cooperate with the law in taking down the one's that they stole from. Who in their right mind would deal with pigs? Stupid Assed Columbian's!!! Ochoa probably canceled their membership after finding out that they were dealing with pigs, and thieves, not drug dealers! LMMFAO!

sounds like someone is fishing for information from what I gather from these posts & thats sort of scarey. I read parts of this book and it intrigued me & hope to read all of it someday. What got me about this whole deal is that it seems to me that this Bluegrass drug dealing is what got drugs started in the first place. In E Ky, at least, it seems our drug problem began about the time that all these crooked cops & others in Lexington was doing all this dirty drug stuff. They should not have stopped until all of them were arrested & thoroughly investigated. So when people from the bluegrass think about being critical of the peoples drug abuse from Eastern Ky then just please remember that it was your part of the country that got it all started to begin with!! Links can be made from Sally Denton's book to other scandels like the Iran-Contra, Operation Scatback, Franklin Coverup, and others, Terry Reed Was in "Air America" and was also at Mena when he was working for that CIA deal and came face to face with a C130 loaded with TONS of Cocain that was supposed to go to Afganistan for the corruption of the Russian occupation, The Scotties Hamburger Chain guy might have links to a murder in Morehead as the same Lawyer defended this DOT guy which ever way you spell the name Dan Lassiter is a link back to Arkansas and Clinton's Operations there. It is quite a web of intregue if you get a chance to read a couple of other books like "Compromised Bush Clinton and the CIA" By Terry Reed, Franklin Coverup by John Decamp (and the suppressed Discovery Channel Documentary "Conpiracy of Silence"

How about Don Leach of the famed Fayette County Jail who was convicted by the FBI this year. Didn't he have something to do with all of this.

What an awful thing to say about someone u dont even know. Bizzack (who was one of the detectives who investigated this Conspiracy) was/is a good man. In fact, not only has he had to endure years of speculation over this Conspiracy and his handling of it, but more recently, his wife was one of the people who died in the plane crash at Bluegrass Airport a few years ago. Give it a rest. Discuss the case if you will, but no need to bash innocent people.
