Biden: We didn't know the economy is this bad

Full story: Newsday

The Obama administration "misread" the depth of the economic troubles it inherited and still expects more new jobs in the long term as the spending pace from the $787 billion stimulus plan quickens, Vice President Joe Biden said.

When will they stop saying "they inherited.." They were part of the administration that MADE the mess in the first place. Secondly, if he didn't want the job, he shouldn't have run.

"they" were not part of the administratiion that made this mess (those losers either quit or lost their elections) and "they" are not saying they don't like the job, or it is harder than they thought, so your comment that if they didn't want the job they should not have run.

What they are saying is the mess this idiot BUSH got us into (including a stupid war against the wrong country) is worse than they anticipated, which I do agree is poor planning.

They should have known an idiot in charge for 8 years can create a mess deeper and worse than it looks and will will take years to fix.

There are plenty of Democrats that are responsible for this "mess." This is Biden's way of saying, "oh crap, we screwed up, it's gonna cost you even more." Can you spell IMPEACHMENT NOW?!

Good thing Biden is so stupid. Every time he runs at the mouth we learn something Barry would probably prefer stays hidden. "Inherited" is just a synonym for pass the buck.

Evidently we misread the depth of your idiocy Joe. You can't fix a deficit with forced record deficit spending. on the backs of the taxpayers,

Yes we can..........count the days until you and Obozo are in the rear view mirror. I shutter to think about the bill though.

"they" may not have been in the administration, but they were part of the government that caused this problem. Pretending that the politcians (who both won and lost) had nothing to do with it because they weren't at the head is the idiotic thinking that is screwing this country up. You may Think bush was an Idiot, but its poor business practices that bankrupt the companies who are now being saved by other peoples money. That is not one mans fault. If these politicians cared enough or thought far enough ahead they could have seen some of the problems developing and stop them. The current system of government that allowed this to get so f-ed up.
More government control and government interest in the businesses will not fix the problem, it would probably screw it up beyond repair. People want help but won't do it themselves, and the government won't allow the major businesses lie in the graves they dug by making crappy products or cutting corners. If a business wasnt good or the best it used to fail and the better one would survive, but now we allow the bottom of the barrel to hang around and suck from the system.
So finger pointing and looking for a person to take all the blame isnt the answer. And don't act as if biden and Obama are saviors who have done no wrong and are going to fix everything. Checks and balances were there and no one did anything...including the current president. They may be emulating FDR and spending to get out of a bad economic time, but it wont work wonders like they think.

Yes, never forget the Demoncrats were in control of Congress for the last 2 years of Bush's term, including both Biden and Obama, both of whom never saw a spending bill they didn't like.

Obozo and his VP, Mr. Diarrhea of the mouth had better learn real quick that blaming Bush is running out of steam. Saying that they "miscalculated" just makes them look stupid and even more clueless on the economy.

The stimulus plan has failed, miserably and things are only going to get worse as the deficit grows.

But I guarantee their only solution is going to be to spend even more.

All the Obozo supporters better start re-thinking their positions. I don't think I have met a single one who can believe how far left and how much spending he has done.

How can you come into office complaining about a huge deficit, if you only quadruple it in the first 6 months?

Can a single Obamy supporter explain that to me?

Stop the c/r/a/p/ Joe, you were part of it and have been for the last 30+ years. You underestimated it because like the rest of you career criminals, I mean politicians, you are out of touch with the real world.

Notice the Democrat's fan club is conspicuously absent from the thread.
They'll find some way to blame Sarah Palin.

I voted for Obama, but must admit at least Bush gave up some $$$ to the people who need it most - the familes whose incomes do not cover the cost of living.

How bout another stimulus $$$ for the working poor?

I am an Obama supporter who fully agrees that Joe Biden is an embarassment. But, since you mentioned it, he is not nearly as much of an embarassment as Sarah Palin is or would have been. He is also not nearly as much of a danger as the last war profiteer who shot his friend in the face.
Maybe the reason why Dems are posting less here is because it is like p*ssing in the wind.

"We misread how bad the economy was, but we are now only about 120 days into the recovery package." He cited the economic conditions inherited from the Bush administration. " It's now our responsibility.

"Inherited" - It was everyone's fault. The Democrats have controlled Congress for more than two years. They blocked everything Bush tried and Bush blocked their efforts. Some of the problems were inherited from the Clinton administration. Politics has become " lets destroy the other party" Nothing is being done because it is good for our country.

It looks like the "stimulus program" is a payback to the unions that helped the Democrats take control. Lots of money has gone to "prevent teachers, firemen and policemen from being cut". The bailout of GM and Chrysler has also been very benificial to the unions. All of the rest of us have been hurt by the economy downturn - no bail out money for us.

They didn't know the economy was so bad, because it wasn't so bad until they took office. They took a bad situation and they threw gasoline on the fire, with bad decision after bad decision, all decisions made to divert taxpayer money to their supporters rather then get us out of this recession. Now thanks to their incompetence, we are looking at a skyrocketing deficit and a stimulus which has only stimulated unemployment.

This is what happens when you spend almost a trillion dollars without even reading the bill, and you look at a crisis as a chance to push your personal agenda, rather then a problem to solve in order to help the citizens.

I only hope that they don't do for our health care system what they have already done for our economy and the national debt.

I'd jump into shark infested waters to save Obama knowing who would take his place.

Also, if you view his teeth in HD you can go blind.
