does this apply to previous offenders how have been clean and comply
with the registration laws. If the law is retroactive then there is
no point in living and death is the only way out of this hell I am
living in.

Sorry for the hell you live in and all, but if you touched a child indecently or violently rapped somebody, you deserve every bit of that hell plus a hundred times more...simply because you knowingly hurt a child/person and your hell is probably only the tip of the iceberg, compared to the magnitude of their hell.

You know, it is really great if you have truly recovered (hell, maybe you were even innocent to begin with...or, your crime wasn't all that severe), but most offenders do not stay "recovered" as the temptation is just too strong for them (yuck!). LOOK AT THE BRIGHT SIDE: this bill beats having to stay in prison (where, if you weren't so lucky, someone treated you in the same manor you treated your "victim"). Ya see, things could always be worse.

The inaction of the House of Representatives to pass more money for the Department of Corrections to build more space for beds to accomdodate Jessica's Law, or to allow Private Prisons in the state of Kansas should make your day "former offender"...there is NO bed space to put people who like sex with little boys or girls and/or love to torture them...possibly kill them ...away...maybe they'll find a bed for a murderer...but how many little kids have to be sexually abused before the House of Representatives makes sure there is a place to put these people...the Senate passed both measurers...Thank your local Representative...then ask him/her WHY?

I am SO mad at all this sex offender CRAP@!@ in my opinion the offenders that do kidnap young kids, rape and kill them are so much worst then 99% of "sex offenders" and should never be out among the world. But 99% of what the world wide panic is about now is the child molesters that has always been part of our lives, you all act like this is something new, I was molested by 2 uncles and a brother when I was young, If you do the research and knew the truth, 99% of the sex offenders are harmless to the public, they prey on family and relatives most children who are molested are by someone they knew and trusted, not some stranger...I am not saying sex offenders are harmless, far from that. But I think this sex offender list is useless, because before long there will be more people on it then not, there is already over 400,000 on the list and 44% are not accounted for, what good it is?? And what about the drunk drivers, drug dealers, parents who kill their kids by drowning, throwing off bridges..there are more deaths and harm brought to children by these offenders then the sex offenders, these NEED to be addressed also, OPEN YOUR EYES AMERICA, first the sex offenders, then some other offenders, wear your seat belts or you'll get pulled over, do this, do that...We are no longer the land of the FREE!! we are the land of the paranoid, little by little rights are being taken away and everyone is to busy or in a panic to notice. It is a good think for goverment that people don't think... that is what hilter said, how it is any different here and now? seperate these people and those people....kill, kill, kill...who is going to save America??

WOW sickofthehype...sounds like you think this is normal in families and the public is out to change the "normal"...We do live in the Land of the Free and that includes little kids who can't fight off Uncles and Brothers that sexually abuse them. There are also mothers, fathers, grandfathers, grandmothers, teachers and the next door neighbors. When will it end...when the molesters know that they will be locked up and identified to the public! It is time for this to come out of the "closet" and dealt with...now if the state of Kansas would do something about prison space...maybe the judges will put the molesters away!

So, sex offenders are sorted by degree, huh? I don't think so! you seem to be up to date on your facts in that most offenders are trusted family members or close friends. It's true, the murdered child doesn't have to live with what had been done to him, but the ones that are alive pay for it every day. You are correct in that it does not good to do nothing more than add the offenders to a list...I wouldn't be against branding them on their forehead...or foreskin, whatever is the most painful.

Well Everyone has there beliefs in this matter. What I am saying is that most molesters are known and trusted people to the victim. So if one moves into your neighborhood..he would be 99% safe to the general public so do they need to be put them in the spotlight when they did their time?? They all ready register and are being watched. What about all the other crimes that hurt child, everyone is so focused in the sex offender that they don't think about the drug dealers selling drugs to our children, the parents who abuse and even kill their own children, drunk drivers who kills children. Do you really think these other crimes don't need the SAME attention as the sex offenders??? Come on, I grew up dealing with the abuse, being molested and I know people who abuse their children, families torn because of a children killed to drunk drivers, DO you really think ALL of these things don't have a long term effect on child?? Do you think a child can be abused, beat, burned, shaken, call horrible names, and not have long term effects? I am saying if you are going to pick on one group of abusers I think you need to pick on them all...unless you might be included in one of the other groups of abusers, then I can see you picking on group to keep the attention off of your crime. I am so SICK people abusing child and they do in so many other ways then molesting!! I watch child and deal with child all day long, I love them children, they bring so much joy and laughter into my home. But I also deal with the down side of what some of the parents do to these kids...I am speaking out for all kids...STOP ALL THE ABUSE!!! AND LABEL ALL THE ABUSERS GIVE THEM ALL BRANDING ON THEIR FOREHEADS!!! Land of the free....ya!! Look around, get informed, stop to see just how free we really are.

No I don't think this is normal at all in families, I think it is sick and distrubing to say the least, what I am saying is sex offenders rarely are a threat to the public in general, because it is usually a known and trusted person such as a family member.
So singling out just the sex offender from the other abusers and offenders isn't right, you may think the sex offender are horrible, But I think anyone who harms a child in way, shape or form needed to be labeled and on a list...and are HORRIBLE

Wal-Mart is interesting. In KS, you can be arrested for taking photos of your baby in the bathtub, or in the simming pool,( In Salina KS a woman was arrested at Wal-Mart for photos of her daughter in a swimming pool ) for fear of it being "child pornography", yet, our local Wal-Mart sells t-shirts with a baby on it from Family Guy, in a provacative manner, with a saying "you KNOW you want me" ....

How absurd.

Jessie James if you think Kansas is so screwed up than why to do you stay there? Kansas is a great state and is a great place to live and raise children. My ancestors first came to Salina, in the 1800's. I remember Salina in the 60's and summer time at Bennington Lake. They used to have a swimming section of the lake and fishing with my grandmother.

I know times have changed since I left Salina in 1998, but even back then it was a great place to live and raise a family. I have a good friend who lives in Hope, and it is still small town America and a great place to live. Maybe where you live in KS Jessie is not a nice place, but the Kansas I know and love is still there.

These sex offenders ruined the lives of children. The children are scared emotionally, and will have emotional problems that they will carry with them for the rest of their lives.

I don't believe that in Salina Kansas that one can be arrested for taking photos of your baby in a bath tub or swimming pool. I know back in 1958 my mother took a picture of me and put it in my baby book.

Little girls and young women are being kidnapped and raped and sometimes murdered. Others are being raped and held against their will and sold in to the sex slave trade.

Anyone who committs a crime against children who sexually assults them should receive the harshest punnishment.

I tell you, land of the free...HAHA, the only ones who think we are free are the ones too naive to know what is going on around them, being arrested and children taken away for taking a picture of a baby in the tub? Heck somewhere I have some of my son when he was a baby, think they'll get me for that?? is was about 21 yrs ago. It is a sick world we live in (better being safe then sorry right? Lock everyone up) Once the american public figures out what is going on, it will be to late to do anything about it!!! Giving a child a ride on your shoulders is now inapproperate(spelling) tickling them in the soft fatty part of their leg, come on, everyone has done that it is the most ticklest spot but it also in WRONG!! There is a book filled with what is concidered WRONG and will get you arrested, most are things we have done with our children for yrs and are harmless.

My father was 22 when he started dating my mother who was 16 at the time. Of course this was very common 60 years ago. In today's society he could have been labeled a sex offender.
Let's draw some distinctions between this and the pervert who takes a 10 year in the basement and binds her with duct tape.
Unfortunately, they'll both be classified with the same broad brush on the sex offender list.

I am not going to defend Kansas on being a great place or not...I am just going to say by passing Jessica's Law it has highlighted the perverts that think children are easy prey. If they offend more than once (that includes the ones that already did time...therapy...and the sexual offenders list) they will do a hard 30. I am upset that there are no prison beds THIS year to put them away with...I am one of the parents that if it were my children, I would not only brand them...I WOULD CASTRATE them and gladly do time in the pen...

most molesters live in the house your in now. you have a better chance of hitting the lottery than to have ur kid picked up at random by a molester [thats not a family member that is] but you blathering sheep will stop at nothing till you get to the root of the problem....
its called sexual regression/ opression keep burying it, label it bad, try to stop the human in us and it escapes in bad ways.
