Dennis Kruse, R-Auburn, has said he plans to introduce a bill in the Indiana General Assembly that proponents say would allow students to hear various sides the debate about evolution and other controversial topics in their science classrooms.

Translation of the Republican stance: Can't have those kids get any real learning, because then they'd realize we've been lying to them, so let's encourage them to waste time with a non-existent debate about a non-existent "theory" and real science now.
