I went thru Camp Atterbury in December 2012 and I do believe it should close. The process of having to get shots from downtown in which the company is authorized a POV on the installation to retrieve the deployee and take them to their establishment is some of what of a conflict of interest. Then at their establishment they do NOT accept insurance. They take cash or credit card. The doctors on Camp Atterbury made me get a shot that after 23 years in the military was NEVER required. Most of my group was found to have issues that required assistance from the outside businesses. One can only wonder if they are in co-hoots with those establishments. An optician measured my eyes for optical inserts and they were mailed to my home instead of my deployment site. Fort Benning had the inserts ready prior to deploying. Then the charges for the inserts arrived at my house also. No one informed me I would be charged. Upon departing Camp Atterbury we were given Malaria Pills. A couple weeks later I receive a bill in the mail at my house for over $130.00. This never happened at Fort Benning. The amentities at Fort Benning where I have gone thru CRC twice was much more professional and assisted the deployees with more respect and concern. Fort Benning has all the needed support on base and did not rely on an establishment that did NOT take insurance. The food, the training, and the procedures were a lot better at Fort Benning. Close Camp Atterbury and locate the services at a real military installation that has the services within the gates. Train the trainers better and equip the deployees with more knowledge than the third rate service at Atterbury.
