I am trying to find any truth to the petersville house ledgend. It was widely known as a haunted house untill it burned down a few years ago. The story goes the man whom lived there killed his family and hung himself after loosing his job in the 60's? 70's? Afterward it was known to be a place ofdevile worship. The house was left in the same condition as whe the family had lived there very spooky I had been in several times with my friends. Supposedly the nephew (known as farmer Finkle) inherited the property and used to chase off anyone who stopped to take a peek. I myself had been chased off by a man in a big truck. I once took a check from the house written by the man who supposedly murdered and that day I totaled my car. I would love to find some proof of the murders and any true information on this ledgend in my old hometown!!!
Lol. Wow...I have to wander if we hung out? This was a regular "country cruise" for some friends and I. I can attest to being chased off, for me it was a van full of farmers(?) with shotguns. Also, one time I did witness what could be viewed as satanic activity....a Bon fire, people in hoods around it.
But as far as haunted..I dunno. I have been on the outside and inside of this house dozens of times, although admittedly I didn't venture to far around when on the inside...usually just the kitchen/living room felt I had shown my manhood then run off. Lol. And yes...furnishing were left in the house. I can still remember the old 50's looking refrigerator.
I hate that it burned down and future generations won't be able to have this exp. Looking back this was a big part of my mid 90's.

Does anyone remember a murder of a college aged girl around ISU campus parking lot in Terre Haute in the 70's? She was apparently killed and then put in the trunk of her car....my dad knew her dad and we all really felt bad for them. I moved away and that has haunted me for all these years. Thank you.

I believe you are asking about Pamela Milam. If you google her you can get info on her death and who probably murdered her.

I am looking for information on a murder of a woman named Renae or possibly spelled Renee Lewis and her daughter who was approx 10-12 years old at the time-I do not know the daughter's name. The man charged for the murder was her husband Brian Lewis. The child that was murdered was his step-daughter so they do not share the same last name. I believe this murder took place in spring/summer of 2005 in Shelbyville Indiana. I once knew them and I wanted to know what came about with the case. I have searched everywhere & cannot find any information...

I agree with HIGh, this was a popular place to go visit back in the day. My friends & I used to venture off the cruise strip just to go. I can tell you I personally had a few experiences out there. A few times there was a lady in a blue dress holding a candle up in the top corner with window, bunch of us were chased by 2 floating figures dressed in all white. The brother who inherited the house DID in fact Chase ppl away, either by shooting shotguns in the air or by vehicle. I know him. When I worked at a restaurant in Columbus he & his wife always came in. I finally asked him one day about chasing ppl & he said he did but would never hurt anyone, he just knew the story attached to the house & everyone coming to the property was annoying. He would never tell me if the story was true or not. Quite a few of us had unexplained experiences out there & ones simply explained. I drove by after it burnt down & it does suck its not there for any future generations to see, or experience. When I was in hs about 15 yrs ago nothing beat a night quite like a country cruise to the old Finkle place. The brother lived at the end of the road you turned on to go by the house so that's how he knew ppl was there. I'd like to know myself the story.

I was just talking to my uncle about this case. He said the head was never found. Was the head in Pendleton found before or after the body of Gary Lake?
Dr. Lind was prosecuted & convicted for the bombing of the plumbing supply co, but they were unable to prosecute for the murder of John Lind.

Yes, I am 16 and I recently went to the ruines of the Finkle House. It was me and 5 othe rof my friends we. We first found a boddle of what smelt like apple moon shine ( what my friends said). And to get it open we busted it open on the foundation of the house. After like 20 sec of busting it we heard a whistleing and what sounded like chimes "dinging". We fled in fear and went back like 1 hour latter. The second time we went over to the house we parked across the street. And as soon as we got out of the car we heard screaming from a female voice comming from the ruins of the house. We were all feaked out but it was a awesome experience. We are going to go back soon and this time not run off from some really scary noises.

Yeah, that area on River Rd by the Blue River is DEFINATELY haunted. When winter is about to turn to spring, actually right about now, if you drive with your brights on you will see a man wearing hiking/camping gear weaving in and out of the underbrush, but as you go to pass him, he disappears. As I came home from school every night I would see him. This is right before the ballpark on the second to last curve before it becomes Habig St.
I used to live on habig st. Right behind the ball parks. Used to walk those roads late at night. Usually midnight so that I could get some night fishing in. It's really creepy there.

Using map on iPhone or other source, submit: Flat Rock, Indiana and yes from chitown, south of naptown on 65. But be sure to check out the Francessville (Indiana) lights. Google either one also for precise directions. I have seen the F'ville light(s) myself, and yes it was freaky !
