The Sad part of welfare fraud is that everyone convicted of it never gets jail time, it is alway probation and they have to pay it back, The only time they go to jail is if they do not comply with their probation,
jail costs to much and people on probation have to pay the county so the county gets income from crime in a crooked judicial system this works better for them wake up indiana, america your fight against crime has taken away your freedom and since the system is corrupt so are the people who use it and abuse it honesty is out the door

I can so relate to you I too am a single mom of 4 beautiful children. I am single not by choice but by war. And I work but I make 4 dollars too much for food stamps and if it wasn't for my family and friends I would not have survived the last 2 years, much less feed my children.

I know a mother of 3 (all from different dads and not married)who has been living off of welfare for years now. She receives over $1000 a month just in child support and gets away with lying to the state about her income. I know child support isn't considered income but when you apply for welfare, they ask if you have "other income." She runs a day care out of her house and doesn't claim taxes on the money she makes. The state she lives in doesn't require that she has a day care license unless she watches more than 5 kids at one time. She makes about $150 a week just from day care kids. So, she makes about $30,000 a year under the table TAX FREE plus lives in Section 8 housing which means her rent is free or reduced, receives food stamps, and free medical insurance. HOW IS THIS FAIR? I have reported her to the welfare department and the IRS but nothing has been done. So she gets away with it and spends her money on things like trips to Disney World, ski trips, cruises, new cars, etc. while the rest of us bust our asses just to pay the mortgage! And the welfare system wonders why there are so many people abusing the system......b/c it's SOOO easy to do!! You can find ways on how to screw the system on-line just by doing a search. Things need to change!

The reason that you witness this is because these are the people who are raised, generation after generation, to believe that they are "repressed" and that the government owes them.

1 day you might be on welfare so back off some people cannot help being on welfare and would give anything to get off but because of an illness or such no one will hire them cause they are a health risk so welfare is all they have

<quoted text> Well Ms Doss, perhaps your standards are too high...550/mo rent is high. And may I ask if you were on birth control when you conceived your children? I assume not. Perhaps if you knew you could not afford children you should not have had any?
I'm not trying to say you aren't allowed to have an opinion, but I have a friend who had kids while married and then her husband died in a car wreck. She could afford kids when she had them. Also,$550 for rent really isn't that much. I paid that for a one bedroom before I got married. Now you can hardly get a one bedroom for that. All I'm saying is while this person could just be having sex for the fun of it and popping out kids...it's also possible she could afford them when she had them and then her circumstances changed.

I'm sorry for the two moms who lost their husbands. Not everyone on the board thinks poorly of you. Every one of us on here could have our circumstances change dramatically at ANY time. Some people don't think before they post.

So all single mothers are out there, just churning out babies?

Oh. So no wives have husbands who leave them high and dry? Or no kids make a mistake with their birth control? Or no one loses their job after having kids?

I am glad, Ally, you are in a position where this won't happen to you or your family. Really, I am...

Come on, Michael say what you mean...

What's with the code words? Just say it...

You are implying that a certain group of people in this society are on welfare, not members of every racial and ethnic group.

Or, are these people who you say who view themselves as 'repressed'(I think you mean 'oppressed', BTW)mainly white? Because 2/3 of folks on relief are white.

I am sure you knew that already, however.

I'm going to assume you meant you can't live on $5.25. But you can live on $7.50? That is amazing.

Also have you ever tried working in a factory which generally pay at least $9.00 starting pay?

Can't believe you said that with all the factories closing every month and moving their plants to Mexico, or big business outsourcing the jobs to India, China, and elsewhere.

If you only get minimum wage, you must have some other means of income. There is no possible way that you can raise two children adequately and have the luxury of a computer. Someone is paying your bills. I raised two children alone on a professional salary (RN) and there is no way I could have afforded this luxury and paid my necessary bills.

Barb, Have you never used the computer at work for personal use?

Im a single mother, work a full time job and am a time student. I have a computer at home and NO ONE pays my bills, except myself. I dont receive any type of welfare or government assistance, even though I qualify. My computer was a birthday gift from my loving family. My internet is $9.95 a month, some of us are willing to pay for connection to the outside world How dare you stereotype this woman! I am offended by your comment and I am not even her.

Writting paper on welfare and the policing of it

Example: A Bareley scrapping by, self emplayed person has an injury and is refused help on the hospital bill because he has a small home (he now needs to take out a second mortgage on). A person driving in via a Hummer W/$$$ rims and more Gold around his neck and in his mouth than fort Knox pays very litle if any for his stay at the hospital. Please give examples and any sugested fix.

Yikes.

I suggest that you wait until you've passed elementary school spelling and grammar before tackling something as complex as "Writting paper ...".

How bout this...if we want to work overtime or bosses wont let us because the help we are on says not to! I dont think its "sorry" that somebody wants to help feed their child, I think its sorry they had to sign up for the help b/cuz the job they are working doesnt pay enough to support the family they have!
