the system has a lot of lazy caseworker's that will not do their job and are of no help. they act as if you are bugging them to do their job's. not people oreranted at all. maybe boss man should check on emploee's to not just people try to recieve help for their self and children.

You know, I have people that refuse to work overtime because the county cuts their food stamps when they do. How sorry is that?

One in 11 involved? What checks and balances are there to avoid this happening again. I don't care if she got 4 years probabtion or 20 years probabtion, the felony alone will harm her in employment opportunties the rest of her life! She can thank God all she wants. "its" never going to be over..she'll be paying one way or another the rest of her life.

"I'm just sorry for all this happening"

That reminds me of my son who, after he pushed the plate off the edge of the table, said, "It fell off the table."

Why can't people just say, "I'm sorry for what I did."?

For your information, it was 2 caseworkers, and the rest were the minister of the church, his wife and other so called christians that go to that church, They were all involved in it and got bennifits that they were in no way shap or form eligible for,
So yes it was a group SCAM, and yes the caseworkers are scum, it gives the rest of us who do this job a very bad rep,

WOW what a light sentence for such a horrible crime. People out here work their butts off for peanut butter an jelly while many link card holders are living it up on steaks and shrimp.

Patrick::: she got a light sentence because of her past NON-criminal history. Im sure there is an agreement that she too will qualify for the first time criminal program and she can have this felony either dropped to a misdemeanor or even expunged altogether!!

Im glad her and her family ate well at my expense.

Caseworker, right you are. The sad part is no jail time in the sentence. Probation and public service. Some punishment. That is the other part of all of these equasions. When they do get brought to justice, we slap their hand. Its so sad, and it is also an injustice to all of you doing your jobs.

There are to many people who live off welfare and do nothing to change their life so they can support themselves. I feel that should be considered welfare fraud/abuse. People need to get up off their a&*'s and stop making excuses, go get a job and work hard like every other citizen instead of relying on welfare for an extended period of time.

Jail time is not the answer to everything. What is that going to solve? Thats why our jails are over crowded as it is. There's to many people abusing the welfare system to lock up on person, lets make her work about 3 jobs to pay back the money, thats torture compared to sitting in a jail cell being feed by my tax dollars, hasnt she wasted enough of our tax dollars???

The Sad part of welfare fraud is that everyone convicted of it never gets jail time, it is alway probation and they have to pay it back, The only time they go to jail is if they do not comply with their probation,

All most every single day of my working life I encounter scum that defrauds the many systems designed to give a hand up to those who are less fortunate.
I have people who park their brand new $30K cars down the street so that they dont think we see them. they come in our indigent care clinic to take our meds, and take our services, the whole time wearing designer clothes, dripping with gold chains, rings and necklaces. But all they have to do is claim they have no income and our hands are kinda tied. But justice prevails! With my law enforcement experience, and borderline obsessive compusive disorder sense of curiosity, I weed them out one at a time. I do not turn them in, I do not file suit against them for fraud. I bide my time well and wait for them to be at the clinic window on a busy day when the lobby is packed with legitimate patients, and then I let them have it when I spout out loud how I found out they have insurance better than the people who work for me, and how they make more money than most of the people in the office, and how much they owe us, FULL COST, no copays, no discounts, no second chances. Then I go work with the collection agencies, credit reporting agencies.
People like this makes me sick. It is one of the worse crimes possible. And caseworker is right, they will see no real time in jail, no real fines or restitution. I wish we could post their pictures on the front page of the paper and spell out exactly the level of services that they stole from those who truly need it!

What? There's fraud going on in our welfare system? How long has this been going on?(sarcasm) C'mon people, there are thousands of freeloaders on welfare. The ones that really deserve it usually don't stay on it. I agree that welfare is necessary but the whole system needs to be revamped.

Well Ms Doss, perhaps your standards are too high...550/mo rent is high. And may I ask if you were on birth control when you conceived your children? I assume not. Perhaps if you knew you could not afford children you should not have had any?

I am a single mother, not by choice. Although my first was conceived while on birth control the others were during marriage. Now that my spouse is dead and gone should I just throw my children away? Not all single parents are single by choice!
