If Obama wins it's because of his:

1. great intellect
2. charisma

If he loses it is because:

1. America is still racist.
2. GOP stole the election.

What the Democrats forgot over the past 20 years was to pay attention to their base: white, hard-working men and women often doing two and three jobs to support their families rather than turning to welfare. Instead, the Democrats pandered to every minority and fringe group imaginable and the far-left extremists typified by Move-On.org . As a result, they have candidate who does not reflect those peoples' values, their education levels, their commitment to their country or their economic circumstances. Now that they need the middle class whites, they're really not sure how to bring them back.

Race is a two-edged sword. I hear a lot about white racism (8 percent of whites would be uncomfortable voting for a black for president) but relatively little about black racism (over 90 percent of blacks in most states voting for the black candidate). And, I am tired of the cries of racism and sexism anytime someone opposes a black, latino, or female candidate. Could it be that an intelligent person could simply disagree with the positions of the candidate?

But how does Obama overcome the fact that he is a Chicago politician? Does the nation really want a president that has his base in the most corrupt state in the union? Do we want the United States run the same way Illinois is run? Emil Jones is Barack's political mentor and I am sure he learned well. That is why I won't be voting for Barack Obama if he wins the nomination. I am tired of Illinois politicians.

Couldn't it also be that for the first time with a leading black candidate blacks overwhelmingly agree with that black candidate's position? Couldn't it also be that they do not hold any bias towards him and honestly view him as the better candidate?

I completely agree with their choice. To me it speaks to their wisdom because it concurs with my choice. You can be Latina like me and support Obama. He has easily one the support of the youth, highly educated and those who in the past have become disillusioned with our democratic process. He just needs to win over the support of blue collar whites. That he can do once he has the nomination and the support of his party.

Darlin, until you've lived in Florida, you ain't seen nuttin. At least in IL they try to hide and cover it up. In Florida its out in the open and blatant and no-one cares.

Agreed. Agreed. Agreed.

The desire of Republicans to prolong the Democrat Nomination process was a failed strategy from conception as it did not consider the Media's desire to focus on conflict, real or perceived. What was dubbed as Operation Chaos has resulted Senator McCain wanting for coverage as he now ceremonially "shows up" for each remaining Primary, often failing to garner more than 70% of the vote in a one man race.

What do you mean by "working -class voters"? African Americans have a much higher percentage of such voters. Young people starting off early in their career also often fit this definition. Well educated people in the social sciences and education also seem to fall in this category. These are all key Obama demographic supporters in this primary season. Both Obamas come from very humble working -class backgrounds.

Hillary said that she was the candidate of choice for" hard working white people without college degrees." People like a Rush Limbaugh and a Karl Rove. People who are very familiar with the N word in family and friend conversation as an apt description of any member an inferior race of people. People who think that the Confederacy and the Civil Rights movement were both lost causes. People who think that the races should not mix. People who wave the stars and bars besides old glory but who never wore a military uniform.

Are these the people you are talking about? If so there are a lot more than 8% of them and O bama will never be able to convince them that he is half white and was raised white.

Bubba,

How many black people are in Iowa or New Hampshire. The first primary with a significant number of black people was the SC primary. Think about it!

Why is 57% of the white vote "overwhelming" when it is for Clinton and 90% of the black vote for Obama not racist? Because he had to work so hard for it? And she didn't? The overt racism of black journalists, broadcasters and black voters is what will cost Obama the election, not white racism. You have made it black against white and nobody likes being attacked because of the color of their skin.

I forgot to mention that I have the same amount of education as Obama, but I don't always wear a white collar. And why isn't antone mentioning the educational level of the blacks voting for Obama?
