As I read this article, I hear about poor Mrs Haman. She may lose a acre of land and have to buy feed now for her cows and not be able to grow hay. She wants a subsidy and the government to pay for that feed. Ummm. Don't we already pay her as taxpayers. The agricultural industry receives more government tax breaks than anyone else. More than big business. More than the entitlements that the poor receive. Talk about milking! They receive ridiculous property tax breaks. These people pay less in property tax for there 100 acre tracts than I do for my little house on my 60x120 lot. Am I making a living off my home? No! Are they? Yes! Why do they receive the property tax breaks? Cry me a river. Poor you! This expressway (tollway) will add the economic development the towns need that it goes through. It will help ease the burden on thousands of property taxpayers in those villages. What is more important the thousands? Or the poor 40-100 farmers that may lose a few acres a piece? I say the masses are more important than the select few! These people are almost as amusing as STAND people. All about them. Not in my backyard! Until it is built. Then these crybaby farmers will be the first ones in line when the billboard company's come around and say. Would u like thousands a month to allow us to put a advertising billboard on your property?

Yes we recieve subsidies and you could rightly so call it the greatest welfare program in the world we are paid to grow and not to grow. But you need to look at the facts we own the property and we will will make even more money after the road is built but you are missing the what is really happening we are using the Illiana and stand to get our friends elected to locally elected offices where your real estate tax dollars is converted to cash to fill our pockets wake up!

You would think the property owners have the advantage here. That's not the case. I'm not a fan how the govt. just does what they want. There is a lady near the airport property that refused to sell her family property , not sure on the how much land, but after a long court battle the state is getting it anyway. They just take it away. They will do the same for the illiana.

To all you political hacks-put it in your backyard! The government gives people next to NOTHING for their property. This will increase NOISE,POLLUTION,CONGESTION and is going to cost so much to drive on NOBODY IN THEIR RIGHT MIND will use it. The area is lived in by people who like the small town quiet life. If you want filth, murder crime and congestion move to Chicago!!!!!!!!!

The people who get property "taken", simply should have sold. If you're so naive that you think you'll stand against a government acquisition of land and win, the. You get what's coming. Take your little money for a PIECE of your land and be happy. Its not the right way, and it sucks. But, we all know govt. Gets what they end one way or another. Try to make out the best you can.

As for Illiana specifically, that means traffic. Traffic means revenue, and revenue means improvement. As long as its done right Wilmington shouldn't be turned into a cesspool. Towns like Lockport and New Lennox weren't ruined by 355.

Wake up, these things are happening whether you like it or not, get what you can out of it or stand and complain to deaf govt. Ears.

This is soooo simple. If you are for the road you are for Progress. If you are against the road then you are for Congress. Which in my reference I mean to say Self serving interests, regressiveness and divisiveness. In other words, you suck.
