Rod Blagojevich , a second-generation Serb-American, did not have a big public profile in Serbia. Full Story

American Serbs are proud of Tesla, Karl Malden, Milla Jovovich, Pete Maravich... Just the same, they are ashamed of Rod Blagojević. It goes with the territory, i.e. his name. This is why I, as a Serbian American, hope that he gets what he deserves and if the charges prove true, I wish him a long time in prison. Greetings from Belgrade

Unfortunately, Blagojevich is a behaving just like a Serb politician. He clearly has not been "separated" from his roots. I also wish him a long time in prison and congratulate the prosecutor, maybe he could come and clean up Belgrade ?

That's very true. The only Serbian thing about him is his name.
I've observed this in many immigrant communities in New York.
The parents sacrifice their lives to come to America for the sake of their kids. If the kids are small enough, they go to American elementary schools, eat poison from McDonalds and become perfect American morons within 2-5 years. With no foreign accent.

I bet he wishes he could go to Siberia...I mean Serbia, now! Then again, Siberia may be the better choice.

BTW, Milla Jovovich, is only half-Serbian. The other half is Russian. In fact, her mom was Galina Loginova, a well-known movie actress in the FSU. Her Serbian dad (a doctor) disappeared on her in the early 1990s, so Milla was brought up by her mother.

Well American's don't blame any of this on his Serbian-ness. We blame it on his Chicago-ness.

Unfortunately, "Club Fed" is as close as we have to a Gulag in this country, so that will have to do.

Most of the Serbian comments are lively, prescient, and show an intelligent regard mixed with humor sorely missing from many of the US based comments here on the Trib board.

Serbians have nothing to apologize for. The US unfortunately has suffered corrupt politicians of all ethnicities.

I don’t even understand the point of this article. Is there honestly not enough to write about already in this case, that you had to go to Serbia? He is a second generation Serbian. This means his grandparents were born in Serbia, and emigrated from there to the US. His dad was born in the US. He was born in the US. This is true for a LOT of people in this country. Sure, Serbian papers are writing about him. A LOT of freaking papers in the world are writing about this.

Tribune, you are INVOLVED in all this mess, and you really think this is the sort of carp we want to read?

It just show what type of people comes out of Illinois liar and thief, just look at Obama. He lied about his birth place and He stole the white house. since we no longer follow the US constitution (natural born) might as well abolish the constitution.
If people in Illinois are so bad, why are you reading our newspaper?

People like you wouldn't believe Obama's birth certificate if you held it your hands. All the official people have confirmed that they have seen the birth certificate and that it is legit. What the heck else do you want as proof??

That has nothing to do with Blago anyway. He himself is a crook, that does not reflect on anything or anyone other than himself.

Comments from europe: Who cares what all these lazy europeans have to say!!!

Germany is the most successful of these socialist states. It takes 3 generations to buy a house and 25 year olds with master degrees in computer science can't afford to own a car......and the Germans still hate their neighbors and vise-a-versa..

The Chicago/Illinois machine is the
most corrupt political organization in the USA and Blago should get put away forever....

Thank God for the USA......stick the euro opinion in your ear..........

Some of these were priceless. My favorite, "Well, one more piece of evidence that the Americans hate us. They don't let us steal." That guy should be in stand up....

Actually, in common usage the term "Euro-Trash" refers to conduct rather than nationality. You can come from any European country and be considered "Euro-Trash"....
