There's quite a few gays who are opposed to gay marriage. Of course gays on a political mission want to keep them buried.

Emphasis on the word "few".

Well, at least THIS time he's worth looking at. Unlike, for instance, Senator Craig. Now, when will someone finally out Senator Lindsay Graham as the lesbian he obviously is?

The question for the journalist isn't whether "outing" him is "okay." The question for journalists is "Is it newsworthy?" It is newsworthy that a congressman who votes against the rights of LGBT people is himself a closeted gay man? Of course it is. If there's evidence and more that one reliable source, then publish it.

I loved your tongue-in-cheek post and added to the positive ratings it's accumulated so far.

However ... on a serious note, I don't think Schock is attractive at all. His twelve-pack abs don't camouflage his inherent ugliness. I look at his photos, and all I can see is betrayal, self-absorption and self-loathing. Not a pretty sight.

As for Lindsay Graham ... c'mon now! A lesbian? He's never touched a woman in his life! <wink>

Yeah... A bunch of closet cases who lie about their sexuality. Great example you picked.

Just as there are a number of heterosexuals who oppose getting married themselves. But you don't want to discuss Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell. just to name a few.

Well, there you have it. No need for further marriage equality. Back to the closet we all go.

Ah, you make an interesting point. But let's take it a little bit further. There's a difference between being opposed to marriage, and rejecting it for yourself. And that's an important distinction.

I know quite a few heterosexual couples who choose not to get married for a lot of different reasons ... "Marriage would ruin everything" or "I don't want to give up my alimony" or "I don't want to take on his debt", etc, etc.

But those heterosexual couples COULD marry if they chose to. And none of them are trying to legally prevent other heterosexual couples from marrying.

That's not the case with people who oppose same sex marriage. They aren't simply making a personal choice. They are also, in essence, trying to limit choices for the rest of us. It's especially galling when the people trying to exercise that control are preying on the community from within, like Schock, who is seeking to profit personally at the expense of others.

There's a huge controversy raging on journalist Itay Hod's Facebook page about the practice of outing in general, and Aaron Schock in particular. It's an issue I haven't thought much about in recent months. But I find that in cases like this one, I'm all for it. I'm hostile to anyone who attacks the GLBTQ community, and believe that exposing the hypocrisy of those who would harm us is fair.(The key phrase is "those who would harm us.") That holds true, regardless of circumstance.

Voters knew he was homosexual.

This is on a par with Anderson Cooper being outed.

You homosexuals need to get your closet in order, or is the goal for him to join your legions of suicides?

Hey fundie filth, you confused "self hating closet case who panders to mouthbreathing christianists and tee baggrz" with "gay man."

You're truly stupid and sick.

But the Republican base _loves_ closet cases like this guy. Even if they can't figure out the obvious about his sexuality they have a sixth sense for hypocrisy...and choose it every time.

"caught that GOP congressman and his male roommate in the shower... together. now they could have been good friends just trying to conserve water."

GOP types are utterly opposed to conserving natural resources, because gawd will make more.

So that's not a plausible explanation.

I find him as plastic on the outside as we, uh, "suspect" he is on the inside, that is, regarding his hypocrisy or hatred around homosexuality, apparently depending on whether GOP voters are observing.

And there are lots and lots of other people to admire, carnally or otherwise.

I may be mistaken, so correct me if I'm wrong, but the gays who oppose marriage oppose it for everyone, just as there are straight people who are opposed to marriage. The difference is that straight people now have the option to marry or not, while until fairly recently gay people didn't have that choice.

Which is the central argument behind marriage equality: my marriage, or absence of one, has no effect on you and therefore is none of your business or that of the state. If the state offers certain benefits to go with being married, then aside from incest or teen brides/grooms, it really has no legitimate, rational interest in forbidding mentally competent, consenting same sex partners from marrying one another if they would be permitted to marry if they were an opposite sex couple.

People oppose marriage itself for all sorts of reasons, but for themselves, not for others.

They knew? C'mon, until the very end there were women who thought Liberace was straight. Until he came out, there were Clay Aiken fans who would rip you a new one if you even hinted that he was gay. And there are still people who adamantly deny that Michael Jackson had a problem with being inappropriate with children, but especially young boys.

They knew? So you think straight midwesterners have a finely attuned gaydar, and that they're that politically sophisticated that they'll just weigh it and put it to the side?

What he was trying to say is that his finely attuned "gaydar" is super-dooper!!

The journalist is questionable as it is - he claimed he was with CBS when they in turn said he wasn't.

You'll throw him under the bus the minute it is confirmed he is gay.
