I like these new terms.

When they waste money on a monumental scale, and are questioned about it, they call it an "INVESTMENT" to make you feel good about forking over your hard earned dollars.

Sounds better than the huge flushing sound of your tax dollars going down the toilet.

No surprise here. He'd steal candy from a baby. This opportunist went after what he called excessive fees paid out under the Capital Defense Fund. The truth was that the State was always half a year late paying the bills.

Illinois evidently hasn't seen enough corruption. Here is the darling of the democratic party that is supposed to take them to the future.

They are just as corrupt as ever and no better than the Republicans.

We need to clean house. Both parties are soooooo corrupt that we need two new parties to get a clean start and the first requirement is that not one person in the new parties had worked in the old parties.

Did you come up with this twisted logic to explain this purchase from AIG? Sure sounds like it! HEY how about promoting this program using public transportation like the rest of us who can't afford an SUV. SHAME on you for taking money from parents who are struggling in these economic times, but still dream of their kids going to college!! All I can say is PATHETIC and DESPICABLE!

HOW is this "corruption"?! He bought a very reasonable vehicle for his office to use. What else are they supposed to do? Walk?!

Again, get upset about Carol Ronen fleecing the pension plan for her 6 week job. Not someone making a reasonable purchase.

As this vehicle was used for a promotional tour (which is presumably over), why was it purchased and not rented?

This is how Illinois politicians operate. Pretend to be for the working class but line your pockets first.

he didn't spend parents' money. the SUV was a legit office expense paid for from the fee paid by the brokerage firm to the state.

there's no story here, except, perhaps a minor one, in that they could have kept a log of its use.

is the democratic party machine still trying to torpedo another independent democrat's career? which machine dem "leaked" this non-story?

Why couldn't they purchase a used vehicle for less money at Carmax?

I contribute to this Bright Start fund--thinking it was a good idea to save for my son's college. Hard-earned dollars, people.
It has lost money. I'm now even more disappointed. All the Dems think our TAX money is theirs; now they even betray us via our college investments. Shame on you, Giannoulias. DON'T RE-ELECT HIM.
The Dems depend on the robots who "always vote Democratic." Why? Why be loyal to them? You HAVE to be kidding, people. Wake up and smell the stink of corruption--what does it take?

A year ago everyone would have been congratulating him on purchasing a hybrid vehicle. Now that the economy is dicey, this is a big news story.

Perhaps you should go back and read the prospectus. Bright Start is an investment account. Every other account investing in stocks and bonds lost money, yet you think your Bright Start account shouldn't lose money? If you wanted a secure plan, you should have invested in College Illinois. It's not anyone's fault but yours that you didn't understand where you were putting your money.

This guy was bad as a banker. He let some elderly person get robbed of her life savings by putting scam artists on the account with her.

He can't manage money.

It looks like he could trade in his suit for a car. Why does this fund have to pay for something he could afford to buy himself?
