Some illegal immigrants fear applying for licenses

Dec 30, 2012 Full story: Daily Herald 30

When Illinois' top political leaders touted a proposal to allow illegal immigrants to obtain driver's licenses, it was painted as public safety measure and had the backing of immigrant rights advocates, who deemed it a positive step in the fight for immigration reform.

Welfare, free health care, free school, and now drivers licenses. Our criminal officials are told by their corporate masters to encourage illegals to come and that's what they do.

Hang all illegals and congressmen and judges.

You are a lying piece of Chit, a typical lowlife Mexican. Wet backs not only collect welfare, they get it using three or four different aliases. Their anchor bastard get free educations and free healthcare. You can't sent it any more than you can deny you are a leech.

Welfare myth: See Welfare Reform Act of 1996. This disqualified illegal immigrants from all means-tested government programs including food stamps, housing assistance, Medicaid and Medicare-funded hospitalization.

Free healthcare myth: This is the strangest of the myths. I have actually seen people on these forums suggest that people enter the country from Mexico to receive "free healthcare". How stupid is that?

Of course free healthcare is Constitutionally guaranteed in Mexico.

I really hope you or your family have never had an opportunity to use a hospital in the US, but believe it or not, they are not free. Everybody who visits an emergency room receives a bill. Most people pay the bill and some do not. Credit bureaus report that undocumented people tend to have better credit than other people. It seems to have something to do with not drawing attention to themselves.

Free school myth: Unless they live in a tent somewhere undocumented people pay the SAME school and property taxes as everybody else. They either pay it directly or through their landlord.

They benefit from the freebies their American-born bring into the household. Are you saying that living in section 8 housing and paying peanuts in rent is paying their fair share? How about those multiple families or residents who live in cramped conditions in a single family abode, how do they pay their fair share when 10 kids from that household may be going to a local school, while the parent/parents pay only a sliver of the rent for that place? Many people, legal or illegal may be getting an ER bill, but the question is how many of them actually pay for the services rendered? If they move around, the bill may be sent to an address that they have already vacated. They use multiple aliases, so how can they actually be tracked down for payment?

So you change the topic from illegal immigrants to US born children of Mexican descent. What's the point?

10 kids in a household? Wow. You are full of myths. The average birth rate of a Mexican woman is slightly more than 2.

The rest is just too silly to comment on.

I didn't say one woman had ten kids, I said that multiple families inhabit a single family home to use their money for other things. Geesh.

Don't think for a minute that illegals do not get any benefits from what their American-born bring to the household by way of their freebies. You knew exactly what I meant.

Sorry, you are wrong. Catholic charities provide housing for hundreds, as well as the Mormon Church. Nevada subsidizes housing for illegal aliens and have for years and years. Health care clinics provide free health care to millions of illegals in Utah and in California. I know this I've been in health care. You are speaking out of the side of you ARSE Turner. We speak the truth because through experience, we know the truth. These entitlements have been the very magnet that brought 3rd world trash here in the first place.

This is an amazing thing about these boards. People have this bizarre fantasy that when their families invaded everybody was well off, spoke English when they got off the boat and immediately moved into a house with a white picket fence.

In the late 1800's what part of the planet do you think had the highest population density? India? China? No. Try the lower east side of Manhattan. There were ridiculous numbers of European invaders crammed into retched apartment houses. Many did not even have running water. These people lived like absolute animals. As you can imagine real Americans looked at those people with contempt.

It is ironic that the descendants of those invaders criticize the fact that later waves of invaders find themselves in similar, but nowhere near as severe circumstances.

And what does any of that have to do with my post. The Catholic Church can do anything they want with their money. It does not affect either of us.

The medical stuff is just stupid. Again why would somebody leave a place with Constitutionally guaranteed free healthcare to walk across hundreds of miles of desert to get healthcare. Not much of a scam if you think it through.

That may be your experience, but my family came through Ellis and on to other States eventually homesteading the West. We were educated Europeans as where many other's but their were also farmers and uneducated immigrant's. But by God, they came through the front door and were turned away if diseases and other factors would destroy Americans. Defend your own experience but allow other's to defend their situations and experiences.

Don't waste your time trying to explain the differences between the current invaders and your family members. He thinks he knows it all. Mine lived in the Midwest and were orchestra musicians and skilled workers. They bought homes and lived quietly and lawfully while working and raising families.

Then why do you make sweeping generalizations about other people? Believe it or not, there are immigrants today that live in the mid-west. I am sure some of them can also play an instrument.

It is not my experience at all. My people consider anybody who came through Ellis Island to be an invader. There is really no difference between the first waves of invaders and the present waves. They are all just people who are trying to take advantage of the country my people built.

It is surprising how little you know about Ellis Island though. Are you one of those people who thinks their family went through some extensive immigration process before they came here? Not the case at all. People just got on a boat and arrived here unannounced. No different then illegal immigrants today. The only difference is that we used to have welcome centers such as Ellis Island where they recorded people's names and gave them a quick once over.

The entire process took between two and five hours and then people were allowed to leave the island. They even had a nice little waiting area where the invaders families could wait until processing was completed.

The invaders were asked a series of 29 questions and the so-called "medical exam" averaged six seconds in length. How detailed do you think that examination was?

After showing that they had at least $18 to their name more than 98% of all invaders were allowed to stay.

If we built welcome centers on the Mexican border and told people they if they waited two hours they would have a 98% chance of entering, do you seriously think we would have anybody would bypass the welcome center.
