Obama in Berlin

Unfortunately for Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, there were no electoral votes to be gained in Germany yesterday, where a crowd of about 200,000 turned out for his speech at the base of the ...

My grandfather immigrated here from Europe. So did a brother and sister. Of the four siblings who stayed behind, one got to die fighting for the Kaiser. My grandmother immigrated here from Europe too, as did her only brother and only sister. All six who immigrated are buried here. Of their twenty-something children, none have returned to Europe except to visit. Same for their grandchildren and great grandchildren. When I was a kid growing up I'd ask about the Old Country and was always told "What do you care about that damned place?" The United States is not perfect, but it certainly is more perfect than Europe, especially Germany. It's never produced anything like a Marx or a Hitler, that's for sure. Never started a World War either. If Obama likes Europe so much, maybe he should stay there. His philosphy does kind of blend in.

Having allies is a good thing.

Letting allies dictate the direction America must move is NOT a good thing.

There are no countries in Europe that I would look to and say
"I want to be just like them when I grow up".

In fact, I believe most of them to be FAR too liberal/socialist to be a model foe a country that is SUPPOSED to recognize the RIGHT of Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.

Being the friend and ally is fine.

Trying to be just like them requires sacrificing the very spirit of our constitution.

Me.?
My speech would go a little something like this:

If'n I were President...
(or "It's Good to be King")
My Speech to The World...

First, to the UN...
Get out...
Get out of our country, get off our soil...
We are no longer participants in your corrupt, greedy, do nothing
organization. You have 1 month to clear out your things...
The rest of the world can support your worthless hides if they wish,
but we will NOT give you another penny...

To the EU...
You're right...
We're imperialists...
And we've come to see the error of our ways...
So effective immediately, we are withdrawing from NATO, and removing
ALL our troops, equipment, and resources from your various Nations...
If you owe us money, keep it, as our gift to you...
But don't ask us for another dime...
If you have problems with your neighbors, solve it yourselves,
our imperialist days are over, and we will not "invade" Europe ever again...
While you're at it, keep all the American blood that was spilled freely by our fathers and grandfathers
to free YOU from tyranny...
Hopefully, it will make up for our "Imperialist" past...
Somehow, I doubt it...

To the World at large:
You people need to learn to stand up on your own 2 feet...
Is there a single one of you out there that acknowledges the help my people have given to you over the past several generations..?

Understand something...
My people LABOR for their hard earned money.
It doesn't grow on magic trees here, any more than it does in your own countries...
The billions of dollars we send out in aid to your countries is first TAKEN
from my people. This is money that they could use to better their own lives,
the lives of their children, their local and state communities...

They are the most generous people on the planet, and have helped
millions by their labors to give food, medical aid, money, and most importantly,
the lives of their grandfathers, fathers, and sons to free many of you from tyrannical neighbors...

WHAT have you given them in return..?
NOTHING but grief, disrespect, and in many cases, you've targeted them for your sick,
murderous political statements...
Enough is ENOUGH...
No more help, no more money, and no more free food...
We hear "blood for oil"...
Now YOU WILL hear "Food for oil"...
Get used to it...
If you want our services or our products, BUY them...
We're done with you people...

The rift between Europe and the US is another media created illusion. Germany elected Angela Merkel and France elected Sarkozy ... both are conservatives. By the way, Canada did the same thing with their new conservative Prime Minister, Stephen Harper.

Evidently, they are moving toward a more conservative position, after realizing that they have gone too far in the socialist direction. The media in this country knows that if they repeat something often enough, people start to believe it. Hence, there are many people who believe the rest of the world dislikes the US.

Remember that the Berlin was built to keep people in. The wall we talk about on the Mexican border is to keep people out. How does that support the editor's argument?

What Obama has done in Europe is an outrage. Pandering to the Europeans by apologizing that Americans can be so stupid, but will definitely improve under an Obama Presidency. This guy is off the charts in arrogance. I think his acting like Mr. Superstar over in Europe is bad for America. If McCain wins in November and I hope to God that he does, Obama has whipped up the European crowds to support him. They might not even give McCain a chance.

Obama is not running for President in Europe, although being as Socialist as they are, this is why the Europeans are going nuts over him. This was supposed to be a fact finding mission for Obama, not "Look at me, I'm Obama". Obama's arrogance knows no bounds. He is acting like he already won the presidency.

There has been no increase in support for Obambi after his latest stunt in Berlin. There are more people who are skeptical of him now than before. This whole thing is backfiring on him. Can you say "President McCain"?

So, we're measuring increases in support less than 24 hours after a speech, AND we're able to figure out how more people are skeptical in the same time period? Amazing.

Sorry but you can look it up.
There were too many un-nerving parallels between Obambi's speech and what occured in Berlin 70 years ago. Even the enraptured expressions on the young people in the crowd were spooky.
Tell me. Why do all of the most dangerous tyrants come from the left?
Hitler - National Socialism
Stalin - Communism (Socialism done by professionals, A. Solsynitsyn)
Mao - Communism

Conservatives who have been elected in Europe have no desire to follow an agenda similar to that of the conservatives in this country, especially with respect to health care and education. Even to those conservatives, we are the example of what NOT to do.

No, no I agree. Obama reminds me a lot of Hitler and Stalin. Just the other day I was saying to my Klan brothers...I mean my friends that he should grow a mustache. I really believe that if Obama is elected we'll be wearing Maoist hats and wearing red stars on our shoulders.

Well now, that explains a lot. Doesn't it ?

I believe the strong outpouring for Obama gives us a glimpse at how loathed Bushwhacker and his band of merry thugs have become.

If we want international support, we have to have....Uh....INTERNATIONAL SUPPORT.

Dunces. We can't have that when they all know we've got a chimpy sock puppet in the white house, and that's what we've got right now.

The French and Germans voted for conservatives and
the Irish just voted against joining the EU. Apparently, there are many in Europe who aren't ready for socialism and the anti-US mentality that you espouse. Even if they were, does this mean the US must follow them? Are we sheep or independent thinkers? Should we become socialists and sign up for Kyoto even though the data shows global warming is not actually occurring: http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0%...
This sheep mentality is disturbing

Loathing ones own culture and country is a phenomenon that I have a hard time understanding. Yet it seems to be the essence of being a liberal. Its hard to understand how a US liberal feels that Germany should be a role model. We are not perfect, but Europe has a long history of imperialism and warfare that overshadows anything the US has done. In fact, we have saved them from self-destruction twice in the last hundred years.

Yes, but if you forget about the Jews, what we did to the Indians was worse.

You just compared Obama to Hitler and you expect a serious response? You really expect a serious response out of that? Jeez Louise, you have some issue. Sorry pal, you get what you give.

The huge crowd was there for the free rock concert. Obama was just the halftime show. More deceit and lies.

I compared Obambi with the other extreme leftists who pulled stunts like the Berlin/rock concert halftime speech. People forget that he was rated the most liberal senator by a liberal publication. The natural progression for extreme leftists is more adulation, more control and punishment of those who disagree. Read your history people.
