It's pretty ironic that the guy who owns baker electric (the biggest union electric company in Iowa) has non-union workers building his house. Way to show union support scum bag!!!!!!!

To the "Union Worker" that is complaining about the Owner of Baker Electric not using union labor to build his new home...... First, you commented that Baker Electric is the largest Union electric company in Iowa, Hey idiot who do you think signs the payroll checks for those union electricians that Baker employees.?... Secondly, You evidently have not been around new construction very long, New residential homes are built by non-union labor, the only exception would be when a union electrician, brick layer, carpenter,plumber or other trades is not able to find commercial union employment they may take work with a non union contractor. Who is really the "Scum Bag" the employer or the union employee?? You should be ashamed to condemn any company owner that is providing jobs in this economy, especially the states largest union electrical shop.

Tourism is down in Iowa. I have sent the Bureau of Tourism detailed, in effect projects that other states have been using for years. My only response was: " your input is welcome ". When something works, we should consider it. Not reject inputs from individuals. I am not a lawyer or on a special instrest org, so my input is filed in File 13.

Taxes: Some states have NO income tax, just a sales tax of approx 9+%, Property tax for seniors is not incrased over the age of 65. I currently pay 26%, my property tax has increased over 150% in two years, and I am almost 80 years old. I know the gov doesn't care about individuals or they would consider my detailed proposals on this subject. I only have an IQ of 163, so my opinion and documentation doesn' mean anything to the Lawyers in office.

failed or not wen one looks at the smoking ban and the exception of casino's. there's a guide line that all laws must be fair and just.equal to all parties. i dont see the high court taking any action. some term limits would be a start. their all to sold out to quit!

The answer to these political problems is simple... Limit the politicians to ONE CONSECUTIVE TERM IN OFFICE.
If they are a Representative or Senator, it makes no difference... ONE TERM, then you're back to making a living with the same people that you made laws for.
MAYBE that would bring back some "common sense" to Capitol Hill.
