Exactly. Motherhood is an OPTION, not a requirement, even if a pregnancy happens for ANY reason. It is still EACH woman's decision whether to continue the pregnancy or not.

Absolutely Ocean. They simply cannot/will not acknowledge that pregnancy is a medical/physical condition for a woman/girl and with that a personal and individual circumstance. They want to make it a government/religious circumstance thus making women/girls a ward of the state during their potential child bearing years.

Hey Ocean!

This is something that was brought to my attention that I thought might interest you. Being penalized for being pregnant or for having children in the first place!

Yep, since reducing women to the functions of reproduction and housework was what a male-dominated government, whether religion-based or not, used to do in American history. Many religious conservative men didn't even want women to get a college education or the legal right to vote.

Religious male conservatives really need to get used to the fact that we women get to make our OWN sexual and reproductive choices now, without their approval or permission.

Not only that, pregnancy is a condition that can prevent girls from receiving even a HIGH SCHOOL education in some cases, due to complications during pregnancy which can cause a teen girl to miss too many days of school.

That's why I think it's vital that girls know all the hardships of pregnancy/motherhood long before a girl even THINKS about having sex. If girls can get involved with positive after-school activities that build their self-confidence and give them new career-building skills for the future, they might be even MORE likely to say a loud NO to any guy who pressures them to have sex.

Given the choice between learning and practicing a new craft or skill and changing stinky diapers, listening to a constantly screaming baby, and losing sleep every night, the choice for most teen girls -- if not all of them -- would be a no-brainer. If I were a teenage girl again, I know I'd rather make bracelets than babies.:-)

Absolutely agree! I have NO doubts at all that some of these so-called "moralists" (mostly men, of course) would love to return to the dark and ugly days in America's history when women had no legal or political rights, and certainly not reproductive rights.
What's funny is when these goofballs keep insisting they're "not seeking to interfere in women's reproductive rights" when they are actually doing just that by working AGAINST our rights.

Hey! not all of us...
Have you ever stopped to consider that; if Men got pregnant from having sex, abortion pills would be available in every vending machine, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, NO questions asked.

I don't know why they love Mitt Romney?? When he was Governor of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney said, "I believe women should have the Right to a safe, legal abortion." Wherever you stand on ANY issue, Mitt stands with you.

You are a smart man!

Not only would BC be available in vending machines but maternity leave would be a year long with pay plus bonuses for producing. Child birth would become the new sport/competition and it would payer higher than the NFL. New and interesting trophies would be in display in every home where a man birthed a child. The glory they would bestow upon themselves would be astronomical!

I have always said if men suffered menstrual cramps the work place would allow 3 days off with pay per month, no questions asked.

Here you admit being anti BC and pro self-control. I wish religious fanatics such as yourself would practice self-control while engaging in forcing their insane beliefs down the throats of a free society but you just cannot help yourself or practice what you preach can you?
If you were seriously concerned about people being harmed by various medications or medical practices you would be advocating outlawing most if not all medications especially cancer treatments.. But you are not …are you?

Embrace your abilities all you want! Who is stopping “you”? NO ONE…you wish to stop others from their choices on how to live and conduct their lives. That is why you are anti choice, anti women and anti freedom of religion. You wish to FORCE all to bow to your beliefs, a theocracy is your aim.

No misquote; dear lady, but rather apply. So what duty do you think a parent should feel toward her child. The parent (male or female) was responsible for the child's life. The Child in utero does not have the ability to plead for his/her life. So what duty should the parents feel?
All of this professed Love and Compassion for a Zygote would be heartwarming and touching if it were not for the recent and past history of child Abuse perpetrated by the Catholic Clergy.
For Centuries Women were forbidden to speak or sing in the Catholic Church. That left a void in the Choirs of the great Cathedrals. The Popes authorized the buying of poor 7 to 9 year old Choir Boys by the Church and the forcible castration of those boys by Priests.
Many of these poor Choir boys bled to death under the knives of the Priests or died later from infections arising from the crude unsanitary surgeries.
If their voices changed in spite oif the surgeries, the boys were summarily dismissed and sent home to their dirt poor parents sans testicles.
This despicable practice was authorized by several Popes and ended in the late 1800's. This unimaginable pain and suffering was inflicted on these boys purely for the listening pleasure of the Catholic Clergy and the Church Crowd. A few lived on into the 1930's and were recorded singing. You can listen to them online.
Read about the fiery Hatred these Castrato Singers had for their own Catholic parents who sold them to the Priests. What Duty did these Priests have toward these children? Evidently, none at all, they held them down while they were kicking and screaming and castrated them. And just think, this was done because Women were forbidden to Sing by Papal Decree. You guys have NO moral high ground to speak from on Birth Control.

Thank you for that information, the catholic history just keeps on giving!

Whatever it takes to keep women in their place should be perfectly fine by the devout! They agree that letting women/girls die in their catholic hospitals as opposed to allowing them an abortion when they could be saved perfectly acceptable, why not castration for some pleasant music to please the pope and god? But then, the devout males may be come uncomfortable when their body is involved.:O)

Absolutely. The information provided by the previous poster is just more evidence that the toxic catholic church deserves nothing more than CONTEMPT, which is all it will ever get from me.

I REJECTED that poisonous institution over 25 years ago, along with all the baggage of gods, religions and churches.

This toxic church has proved more than once that girls and women are completely unimportant to them, except as breeding tools for the institution.

It was one of the biggest OPPONENTS of women's rights during the 19th century, when women were being denied a college education and were barred from all the trades and professions. They wanted women to have NO other life choices for themselves except marriage and endless pregnancies/births after that. Thankfully for all women, those dark and ugly days are GONE. Both marriage and motherhood are OPTIONS now, not requirements, and women can choose to remain single, childfree (no kids by choice) career women as long as they want.

Of course the moral and religious conservatives hate it when women consciously choose not to marry and/or have children. They see the single, childfree choice as a real threat to the existence of the CHURCH. Which is why they spitefully claim that any woman who chooses not to marry or have kids as "abnormal" or "unfeminine." Those claims are false, but it's amazing how many women are still conned into believing that nonsense and have kids even though they really DIDN'T want to be mothers. They really believed the nonsense like "you're not a real woman until you have a baby," and then deeply regretted being mothers at all.

This might help girls see the difference between the two lifestyles of being a free teenager and being a teen mom BEFORE they make the mistake of having sex and possibly ending up pregnant.

If anyone can think of more benefits of lifestyle #1 or negatives of lifestyle #2, please go ahead and add them.

LIFESTYLE #1 - LIFE AS A FREE TEENAGER:
- Keeping up grades, studying, doing homework
- Participating in after-school activities
- Going to school dances and parties
- Relaxing during summer vacation
- Having fun at the junior or senior prom
- Graduating high school and attending after-graduation parties
- Going on to college or vocational school after graduating high school with NO restrictions

LIFSTYLE #2 - LIFE AS A TEEN MOM:
- Missing school, falling behind in classes
- Getting up two or three times at night to feed a baby
- Endless diaper changes, including stinky ones
- Losing friends who don't want to be around crying babies
- Staying home with a crying baby while friends are out having fun
- Missing high school graduation, or even having to drop out of school

As a teenager who is happily NOT pregnant, which lifestyle do YOU want? Wouldn't you rather have the first lifestyle instead of the second?

You can keep Lifestyle #1 very easily, just by saying NO to any guy who pressures you to have sex. If your boyfriend says he'll break up with you if you won't have sex with him, don't cave in. Break up with HIM instead.

Keeping your freedom to BE a teenager; there's no better reason to say no.

I firmly believe in God, I believe that Jesus died for me and returned from the dead. I firmly and absolutely believe in the basics of Christianity. I have NO doubt about the basics of Christianity. I don't belong to any denomination. I have issues with ALL of them.
I absolutely and totally believe in the Doctrine of Rebirth. That is you are born as a human being and live your life here on earth many times, not just once. I avoid the use of the word Reincarnation because for most this implies that you can be born as a lower life form. This is not true!
The early Christian Churches once believed in many lives, but they were ruthlessly murdered and persecuted by the Catholic Church.
When the Protestant Churches came out of the Catholic Church they kept the belief in just ONE life.
Is Reincarnation in the flesh in the Bible? YES, it is!
When you say that, the Churches point to the scripture, "It is appointed unto man once to die, and after that, the judgement."
Go to the Book of Acts, Chapter 23, verse 8, and discover that the Biblical Jews did NOT have Common Beliefs on what happens when your body dies.
So, You can't quote One scripture and call it the authority on the subject.
I discovered this all by myself, in 1982. I read the Bible from the first page to the last, looking for evidence of Reincarnation, and I found plenty of irrefutable evidence.
Malachi foretold that God would send Elijah back, before Jesus came. Luke Chapter 1 says John would be born with THE Spirit and the power of Elijah.
Matthew 11:14, Jesus says flat out that John the Baptist IS Elijah.
The only way around that one is to call Jesus a liar.
In Matthew 17, verses 10 thru 13 , the Disciples understand that John the Baptist is Elijah.
Read Matthew Chapter 16 verses 13 and 14. You will plainly see that they are talking about reincarnation in verse 14.
I didn't reject God because I parted ways with the teachings, dogma, and doctrine of the Church.

Search; women Priests - Gnostics

The Gnostics taught that women were equal to men in the Christian religion.

BEFORE there was a Roman Catholic Church, there were Gnostic Christians.
Gnostics and what later came to be called Catholics vied for control of the Christian Religion in Rome. Gnostics were not so adamant about gaining Control of the Christian Religion as the Catholics were.
The two groups opposed each other on issues of dogma and doctrine. Gnostics believed in Equality for women, Catholics did not.
Gnostics believed you had to spend time learning about Christianity, Catholics did not.
The Gnostics called the Catholics Heretics, and the Catholics called the Gnostics Heretics.
When the Roman Emperor converted to Christianity, he became a Catholic. The Catholics used the Emperor and the Roman Army to get rid of the Gnostics. There was a bloodbath.
The Gnostics believed in the reincarnation of the spirit in a new body of flesh, and life after life, just as I do. So it was at the beginning of time, and so will it be to the end of time.

Origen - born 185AD, died 254AD

Origen, an early Christian Authority is often quoted by Preachers and Priests. Origen taught and believed in Reincarnation, life after life, right here on earth.
Origen did not believe that this should be taught to the masses, because it would cause confusion among the people.
I, on the other hand, kinda think that I might be as sophisticated as a third or fourth century Priest.

Origen said in (de Principiis),
"The soul has neither beginning nor end. They come into this world strengthened by the victories or weakened by the defeats of their previous lives."

Origen also believed in Karma. Actually there is no better definition of karma, than that found in the Bible, "As ye sow, so shall ye also reap."
