Feb 10, 2011 Full story: EDGEchicago.com News Feed 184

The push by anti-gay lawmakers in Iowa to strip same-sex families of their currently-existing marriage rights has already gone well past the issue of marriage, with a proposed constitutional amendment seeking to deprive gay and lesbian couples not only of legal marriage, but also of any other form of legal recognition, such as domestic partnerships ...

Actually, the couple portrayed in Grant Wood's painting are a father and his spinster daughter, not a husband and his wife. A brother and sister were used as models for the painting.

I would love to see it pass. I'd open a business in Iowa and put a big sign in the front window, "No Christian Married Couples Served per State Law 4290381.B"

Or better yet, "Special Sale!! 50% Discount for GAY Couples ONLY! We Have Moral Objections to 'Traditional' Marriage.(Protect by Law!)"

See how long THAT law stays on the books!!!

See how long it takes before the hate-mongers start screaming about discrimination!!! I just love it when the idiots do stupid stuff like this without bothering to think it through.

Ask your idol Obama. He says there are fifty-seven. My citing a total of fifty-two was a pun on your hero. You are the only pervert who picked up on this.

What's next? Are they going to take gay people's right to vote away? Now they are trying to make it a law that businesses can refuse service to gays. That sounds so much like the Civil Rights Era when blacks were refused service at restaurants and when businesses hiring would say Irish need not apply. Is the United States really going back to that time and using a different minority to discriminate against? These lawmakers are full of hate, sick, and twisted. There are no better than Nazi and the KKK.

It seems like Republican lawmakers think that you only have undisputable rights if you are a rich, Christian, right-wing conservative Republican, heterosexual male. Everyone else's rights are up for popular vote as far as they are concerned, especially the rights of women, those who aren't Christian or go along with all Christian beliefs/views/opinions, and LGBT people, but if one questions the rights of one of the catergories I've mentioned in the first sentence then all hell breaks lose, everyone else has to sit at the back of the bus.

This disgusting anti-American bill will fail. What kind of human garbage would propose such hatred as law? It is against all human decency and the ideals of our great Constitution.

It does cut both ways. On the other hand, it won't get that far. In fact, it won't even get out of committee. It is just political blow hards appealing to morons.
