Actually, the couple portrayed in Grant Wood's painting are a father and his spinster daughter, not a husband and his wife. A brother and sister were used as models for the painting.

What's next? Are they going to take gay people's right to vote away? Now they are trying to make it a law that businesses can refuse service to gays. That sounds so much like the Civil Rights Era when blacks were refused service at restaurants and when businesses hiring would say Irish need not apply. Is the United States really going back to that time and using a different minority to discriminate against? These lawmakers are full of hate, sick, and twisted. It seems like Republican lawmakers think that you only have undisputable rights if you are a rich, Christian, right-wing conservative Republican, heterosexual male. Everyone else's rights are up for popular vote as far as they are concerned, especially the rights of women, those who aren't Christian or go along with all Christian beliefs/views/opinions, and LGBT people, but if one questions the rights of one of the catergories I've mentioned in the first sentence then all hell breaks lose, everyone else has to sit at the back of the bus.
