Newt Gingrich prepares for likely White House bid

Full story: The York Daily Record

The biggest obstacle to a Newt Gingrich presidential bid might be Gingrich himself.

Newt didnt "attack" Clinton for an affair, he led an impeachment trial (that passed) for Clinton lying under oath, and being caught at it.

Haha, good one Jim. Maybe it was less of an "attack" and more of a "hey, been there"!

Either way, it was hypocritical as hell. Speaking of Newt's hypocrisy:

2. WHILE DEMONIZING GOVERNMENT LARGESS, GINGRICH POURED MORE FEDERAL MONEY INTO HIS DISTRICT THAN ALMOST ANY OTHER: The politics of the mid-1990′s was marked by the right’s attempt to decimate the social safety net. As Gingrich waged his campaign to destroy unemployment insurance and aid for needy families, he made his own district the recipient of huge amounts of federal aid. Under Gingrich, his district in Cobb County, GA received more "federal subsidies than any suburban county in the country, with two exceptions: Arlington Virginia, effectively part of the Federal Government, and Brevard County Florida, the home of the Kennedy Space Center."

Here is the first of ten things Newt probably would rather people forget about:
1. DESPITE BATTLING THE "SECULAR SOCIALIST" AGENDA, GINGRICH CHEATED ON HIS WIVES SEVERAL TIMES: One of Gingrich’s main themes in his columns and speeches over the past few years has been the need to stop the “secular socialist” takeover of America, which he blames for the demise of the family. Yet he had several of these affairs while attacking President Bill Clinton for his own. He justified his hypocrisy to his second wife once, telling her, "It doesn’t matter what I do."
And Barry has a past of bi-sexuality, and cocaine use. At least Newt is straight. And a member of the politicians group that made it to the White House: John Kennedy, Bush Sr., Clinton. We forgave them their sins, what is the difference?

That is a little thing to Progressive Liberals. Lying, deceit to acheive their goals is normal.

You're kidding right? Newt was never convicted of perjury or obstruction of justice, Bill Clinton was. So, please don't avoid my point again.

I thought Bill Clinton got credit from the left for balancing the budget?? If he gets the credit, then HOW did he do it? What did he cut?? The left currently is trying to cut spending. What are they cutting? Who goes hungry because of Obama's cuts in spending? Oh wait, no its just "Cowboy Poetry" that gets cut!?

Simple - the difference is this thread is about Newt Gingrich - a man who will never be President by the way.

Nice try at derailing the thread though.

If you want to discuss Kennedy/Bush/Clinton and their "sins" (your word, not mine), go start up a thread about that and I'll meet you there - I love Presidential history!

And now, back to our show:

3. IN 2007, GINGRICH BACKED CAP-AND-TRADE, THEN FLIP-FLOPPED TWO YEARS LATER: Talking to PBS just four years ago, Gingrich said, "I think if you have mandatory caps combined with a trading system, much like we did with sulfur, and if you have a tax-incentive program for investing in the solutions, then there’s a package that’s very, very good. And frankly, it’s something I would strongly support." He even cut an ad with House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) warning of the dangers of climate change. Just two years later, Gingrich ended all of his green advocacy in favor of pandering to far-right views on the environment. "Imposing stunningly high taxes on an economy in the middle of a recession is fundamentally wrong.…[A]rtificially capping their economy is the wrong approach," he said in testimony before Congress.

Let's not forget what a total slime ball ol' Newty boy is.

Dumped his first wife while she was battling cancer (had her sign the divorce papers while still in her hospital bed), dumped second wife when she discovered she had MS (cheating on her with what would eventually become his third wife before that divorce).

Oh yeah, folks, this asshole can be T R U S T E D to lead our great nation: http://nymag.com/daily/intel/2011/03/newt_gin...

He certainly is, and lest we forget, here's a particularly slimy detail:

4. GINGRICH BLAMED THE MASSACRES AT COLUMBINE AND VIRGINIA TECH ON "LIBERALISM": Showing that his cynicism knows no bounds, Gingrich blamed "the liberal academic elite, the liberal political elite" for the Columbine shootings in Littleton, CO. He followed the same script after the massacre at Virginia Tech, saying liberalism is responsible for the "dehumanization" that led to the killings.

That sounds like something the "God hates fags" Westboro Baptist people would say - anything to advance an agenda, no matter how hateful or nonsensical.

Your premise was that Newt cheated on Calista. Mine was that there is a history of former Presidents cheating on their wifes, but went on to be relatively good Presidents. I put it in the context of "sins". I was not talking about your perceived "sins" they may or may not have provided in governing.

I dont even like Newt, but at least he is intellectually honest. "TTAN" is not though, which is why I broke his first two arguements. Considering I don't care about Newt, and considering how tedious TTAN is, Ill just leave you all with the spoiler in the next post. It seems that TTAN is a plagirist.

Considering you don't care, you seem awfully invested in his thread. Just can't stay away, can you Jim? Sort of like Newt and fundraising.

A more convincing way to demonstrate your apathy might be to simply stfu and ignore the topic, if you're capable of doing so. Are you?

And please, the only thing you broke was wind. Congratulations on having learned how to use "the Google" - guess you think that makes you a modern day Sherlock Holmes? More like a Keystone Cop. Regardless, a copy-and-paste from a blog onto a message board hardly makes someone a plagiarist - and if it did, it would be spelled "plagiarist".(In related news, there's only one e in argument.)

Newt's "intellectually honest" - man that's rich! He hasn't got the character of an old wooden crate. He's a disgraced former Speaker, a panderer, a professional candidate (pays well too!), a serial philanderer, and a flip-flopper extraordinaire exceeded perhaps only by Mitt "What's My Position Again?" Romney.

"Intellectually honest", LMAO! Yeah, about as honest as a three-dollar bill. Good luck with your fantasy.

Looking forward to your next post where you tell us all more about how much you don't care.

Well, since Jim felt compelled to throw in that spoiler, I'll throw in a bonus bit of brand-new Newt-iness to keep things fresh before we get back to the "ten things" list:

Newt Gingrich, discussing his history of adultery and divorces with David Brody of the Christian Broadcasting Network:

"There's no question at times of my life, partially driven by how passionately I felt about this country, that I worked far too hard and things happened in my life that were not appropriate," said Gingrich. "And what I can tell you is that when I did things that were wrong, I wasn't trapped in situation ethics, I was doing things that were wrong, and yet, I was doing them."

No, seriously - that's what he said!

So for all you readers keeping score at home, all those wrong things Newt Gingrich did (like cheating on one wife after another) were "partially driven by how passionately [he] felt about this country" and the fact that he "worked far too hard". Pooooooor baby!

I can’t wait to see if that’ll fly for me at home… "Honey, I feel really passionately about this country, and I’ve been working far, far too hard – so it’s ok if I leave you while you’re in the hospital in order to bang someone younger and healthier, right?"
