I am near the beach. It is very dark and the shore line is devoid of life. We wait.

It is so dark looking into the ocean from the road overlooking the bay. during daylight she sparkles like diamonds in silence through a telephoto lens. Now it is dark and the people gathered are silent. Are eyes in all of our sleepiness play tricks. I see in the dark a wall of water that is about to engulf our life. It is only a Tsunami mind mirage. There are no lights except the occasional flashlight that when aimed to the ocean disappears into the blackness. Ocean and sky are the same. We wait.

A mother is holding her child's hand. And the little girls asks, "When is Goliath coming?"

The photographer has a helium balloon that he will attach his camera SD card to if we become engulfed. He says it will serve as a last testament and knew all along this is the final days of the earth.

A group of people, young and old are gathered and are praying out loud the Rosary. Then the priest smiles and says everything will be OK. "Let us pray the Our Father."

The owner of the McDonalds is asked by a young guy wearing punk rock clothes if the owner would give him the keys to the joint. He will make a trip and bring back several boxes of Big Macs and Quarter Pounders to feed the hungry people. Another fellow opened his trunk and has several bushel baskets full of charcoals and he is willing to fire them up if he could get only two Big Macs.

A Reverend from the Lutheran church is telling the owner of the McDonalds to let the punk rocker to make the trip. And that from two boxes of Big Macs he can perform a miracle and feed fifty.

Though it is warm here, a few people took it upon themselves to light a fire from twigs and some old lumber. It makes everybody feel good.

The punk rocker got the keys from the owner and said he will, "Fill up the car with all that it will hold." I can see the McDonalds below us. It is near the ocean. The headlights of the punk rocker's car can bee seen illuminating the front door of McDonalds.

A girl that works at the airport is placing the traditional plastic party Hawaiian welcome necklaces around everybody she sees. I got one and she kissed me on the cheek and said, "Hawaii is like heaven. Isn't it?" She has the most beautiful eyes.

The Scientist in the group says that waves are starting to hit the shore and are larger than normal. He also says that we might be here for the next twelve hours. People are getting hungry and I can still see the headlights of the punk rocker's car on the doors of McDonalds. He must be loading that car with a lot.

A call went out for toilet paper. There is not much around. But we have a load of newspapers. A grade school girl says that we can crush a sheet of newspaper about a hundred times and turn it into toilet paper.

There is a couple from Japan in this group. The lady has been dialing her cell phone but never makes contact. She looks sad and worried and told another person that her mother and father live near the coast where the Tsunami hit in Japan.

I had a Hershey bar in my pocket. When I opened it up a bunch of children all wanted a piece. So much for my Hershey bar.

I can see the car left McDonalds and is coming up the mountain. Soon we will all be eating charcoal broiled Big Macks and quarter Pounders and crushing sheets of newspapers about a hundred times.

The Catholic Priest is throwing Holy Water on the punk rocker's car. The Lutheran Reverend is getting ready to do a Loaves and Fishes.

The scientist is doing wave calculations and said that the waves could get bigger than the seven footers that are hitting now. He went on to say, "The waves are of little concern to me. I am worried about the oscillations and the damage it could cause to the island under the water. The island could erode away and actually tilt into the ocean. We could slide off." I don't put much faith into the scientist. I figure the island was here for a million years and will be here another million years.

Not much happening. The burgers are being cooked up. Some guy with a Kindle was telling us about how great the new device is. So I asked him what happens if your Kindle gets dunked. He said it stops working. I said the advantage of a paperback book is that if it gets wet you can still read it.

Most people are gone and the few that are left are going through the garbage. Just a few hours ago we received the 'all clear' from our resident scientist. After many hours some of the ladies looked like wax figures in the sun from Ripleys. Runny make up and that black eyeliner turned into some looking like a haggard Alice Cooper. The vacationing Lady from Japan told us her parents paid for her vacation to our State. I feel bad for her. One of the last people here with me found a radio. We listened to the news coming out of California. We heard how one man taking pictures was swept into the ocean and never seen again. If you ask me these adventuresome people are asses. This Tsunami was so strong that it sped up the rotation of the Earth by one millionith of a second. That's what was reported by a scientist on the radio. I am going home now.
