Let's see--sales are permitted on Saturday. Then, for 24 hours, sales of alcohol are prohibited. A sentient, thoughtful human being would presumably understand that if he/she plans to drink on Sunday and has only enough of his/her favorite mind-altering drug (which alcohol IS, notwithstanding the numerous other names by which this destructive , and often deadly, substance is called)to supply his/her emotionally-arrested "needs" through midnight Saturday, then it would be sensible to purchase sufficient beer, wine, or spirituous liquors to last the entire 48-hour period. But then, those who drink so much as to be intimidated by a one-day suspension of sales are also likely to have their rational processes so confused by the brain-pickling function of ethyl alcohol as not to be capable of the elementary analysis described above.

This is issue about personal choice and free will and nothing more. Regardless of your opinions on alcohol and of those who drink it, unless my personal choice directly infringes on your personal rights, mind your own business and let others legally mind theirs.

A comment for the Christian right: How is it that God gives everyone free will and you take it away?

When I lived in Atlanta we would go to the American Legion to buy beer on Sunday, for some reason they are exempt.Alot of people party until all the beer is gone and Sunday you need to get the hair of the dog. There is no seperation of church and state when it comes to blue laws.

I do not think that Sunday alcohol sales should be allowed. In fact, I think the sale of alcoholic beverages should be banned. Reduced auto accidents and all the repercussions that follow alcohol sales would be better. Deport alcoholics from the state of Georgia and ban all use of alcoholic beverages!!!

My wife and I are both very disappointed in Georgia's ban on alcohol sales in stores on Sundays. It is very difficult for us to comprehend why a state would ban alcohol sales on Sunday in stores, yet still permit people to drink in restaurants. It appears that the state would prefer to have people go to a restaurant to have alchol on Sunday and then drive home after consuming their alcohol as opposed to responsibly allowing people to purchase the alcohol at a store, drive home, and then safely consume it in privacy of their own home.
My wife and I have spoken with many people that we know and asked them about their feelings regarding this issue. Almost unanimously, everyone agrees that this is ridiculous that the state of Georgia and its leaders would condone such a ban on alcohol sales on Sunday. It appears to us that our elected leaders are actually jeopardizing our safety, by encouraging people that wish to drink to go out into public and drink on Sundays. Of course, it will be a very sad situation when someone is killed by a drunk driver because they had to go out to a public place to have a drink. While the decision to drive intoxicated will have been their decision, it will still resound squarely in our elected leaders' hands as their decision (or lack thereof) failed to help prevent such a situation.
On a second front, the prohibition of Sunday alcohol sales appears to be much of an unjustified restriction on the personal freedoms of the residents and visitors of the State of Georgia. While the residents and visitors should expect to abide by applicable drinking age laws and the like, they should not be subjected to laws that restrict free enterprise or their personal choices. Such laws contradict the premises of a free country as well as capitalism - two of the greatest things that our country represents.
We hope that for the benefit and safety of all residents and visitors to the State of Georgia that our elected leaders decide to end the ban of alcohol sales on Sunday.

who needs alcohol? I tell you who, all the alcoholics that reside in this state. I use to be in the alcohol business and I saw many people die as a result of alcohol (and tobacco). I was on the inside so I know what Im talking about. Alcohol is the most hypocritical business there is. The state wants alcohol sales for the revenue (taxes, dui's,provide inforcement jobs, and so on).
But, on the other hand they (state & local governments) cry about what an evil sin alcohol is and thumb their nose at the very ones paying their salaries. Why not do away with and ban the sale of alcoholic beverages? I dont need it, I think only ones that will fuss are the alcohol dependent folks.

In my opinion there should be ban on Sunday. Many peoples are getting addicted day by day. Many peoples die due their alcohol addiction. Ban is for the peoples welfare only...
