I want to thank the state of Georgia NAACP, especially John Evans of the DeKalb County NAACP for taking the lead to oppose T-SPLOST. Vote "No" for T-SPLOST on July 31st. The law states MARTA cannot use the money for operations and maintenance. MARTA is the only transit system with this restriction.
We are requesting you contact every elected official you know and ask the following question:
Does a vote for T-SPLOST increase the food tax 1%?
In other words, DeKalb County sales tax will go from7% to 8% and the food tax will go from 3% to 4%. If it is found to be true, we need to understand that voting “Yes” for T-SPLOST is a vote to increase taxes by 2%(1% for sales and 1% for food). Once again, the politicians are writing referendums to mislead the general public.
