Its about time. All these years the insurance companies have gotten away with holding the insureds to fire. Patients have lost quality of care because the BIG INSURANCE COMPANY has chosen to know more about pateint care than the physician. I hope Piedmont will hold their position and that others will follow. This is the only way that we can go back to FEE FOR SERVICE, and chose our physician and facility, be treated with quality that they require. The insurance companies are the only one's who can deny companies service, deny patients coverage and raise prices because of age.

GO PEIDMONT, WE SUPPORT YOU 100%.

Ditto! We pay them hard earned money, we should be allowed to choose our own physician, whoever they are! Not certain doctors within an "approved list" that we recieve from the insurance company. Who allowed this power trip for insurance companies, anyway?

These people... "Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia," are rip off and scam artists. They will gladly accept your payments to them but refuse pay claims. They cost me a $7,000 hospital bill with 12 percent interest after being sued. Now I am having to pay an agreed judgement. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georogia refused to answer my letters and phone calls. They are fat cats who are very greedy sitting on top of a hill. I will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau and the Georgia Attorney General's Office

This is the place to complain about your insurance coverage. They have been very efficient each time that I have gone through a complaint process.

It is important to keep in mind that the sole function of the insurance company, from their perspective, is to earn money. They are only going to abide by what is in your contract. They do not specifically care about your health.... only the contract. If you think that you are going to pay less and get more choices, clearly that isn't going to happen. Unfortunately, the more your pay for your policy, the better the insurance company will pay.

They decide the "plan maximums" based on what they are receiving for premiums not on what is being charged in your area. They have you see "approved physicians" because those physicians have agreed to take less money for their services than the norm which gives the insurance company a greater profit. If you think about it, it all makes sense.

BCBSGA has been taking my monthly premiums for a long time. I have high cholesterol, have been continuously covered for years, and go to the doctor 2 times a year--once for bloodwork to check my cholesterol levels and once for my yearly check up. BCBSGA pays NOTHING. THEY REJECT EVERY SINGLE CLAIM. I have spent HOURS and HOURS trying to get an answer from someone there to explain to me what benefit other than a catastrophic even I'm paying for. So for I have had hours of double talk, and today I WAS HUNG UP ON when I asked the Healthcare Specialist (her name was Patty) if I would EVER receive anything in return for what I pay them. UNBELIEVABLE. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia needs to be held accountable--THEY ARE THIEVES.

I have blue direct pos from my employer. It changed from a ppo plan which I loved. After seeing my present doctor for over 25 years I now have to get another doctor or pay my own office visits until a $4000 deductible is met. Leave it up to cheap companies to get horrible insurance plans for their employees. They also add doctors names on your cards you have never heard of. It say you don't have to list a primary care physican but they lie. The when you try to use the plan the office tells you your insurance is set up wrong. Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh insurance companies...How I hate you!!!!!!!!!!

BCBS of Ga. Pre-approved procedure within the hospital then refused to pay the administering doctor some years ago. That makes no sense. Now my rates for Maj Med only with large deductable are almost $800 per month. They agreed to let me apply for a less expensive policy that supposedly covered more then declined me the coverage based on information in my medical records about my parents. What they claim I have I do not, but my mother does. My doctor has reviewed my records and insists I am healthy. I hate Blue Cross Blue Shield and I take every opportunity to tell everyone I know.

I can only speak from my dealing with B.C.B.S. of ga. We had one bill for 43thousand dollars from one doctor. He was out our network. At first B.C. said they would not pay the bill for the amount as if it was in network. Which meant we were responsible for 23 thousand dollars. We contested it, they in turn reverse their decision. They then treated the bill as if the doctor was in network. They have been great. But that is my case.
I know of others that have had problems. Especially those with cancer.
There is bad and good with all insurance companies. I don't say we should completely do away with them and have the government take over. But instead improve on both insurance cost and the cost of medical and pharmaceutic.

I have had BCBS for 15 years having had to increase my deductable almost every year do to increased premiums. Had prostate cancer 4 years ago and BCBS of GA has really stuck it to me now. Can't shop now. 5K deductable, terrible insurance, denial of all claims and I pay $780 monthly @55YO for this! This is nearly 25% of my income. May have to join the ranks of the uninsured now after 15 years of paying out the nose. BCBS has made a killing from me. Mom has a Gov. Cadillac insurance and it truly pays EVERYTHING. Obama, HELP!!!or lets move to a sane healthcare country.

You are correct about BC/BS of GA. They approved a dental producture on accident health plan and then refused to pay. They promise anything and do nothing. I spent hours working on this and with dentist. There claim was that dentist didn't put in the correct codes. The denist did everthing they were ask to do. I also completed the codes.Calls and letters they did nothing. As long as they are making money they don't care about your health. If something is not done to regulate the insuances companies they will do what they want.

And I don't think that Washigton is doing any thing about any of this. The seniors and lower income persons will have to suffer. There has to be a way And the Senators don't listen or care if they are getting there paid that's ok.

Take good look at our health problems.Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security. If we let them it will all go away.

I've been having the same problems with BCBSGA - pay a huge monthly premium, and my claims are denied. Once I ended up owing $50K for covered services, I finally found a helpful lawyer. He asked me to find out if there are others with individual policies with BCBSGA and denials for legitimate claims. Maybe a class action suit. Anyone know how to find out others having these problems?

BCBS of GA just raised my monthly premium from $678 to almost $980. I have a pre-existing condition, am turning 60 and live on a fixed income. I guess they think I won the lottery! I can't afford these premiums and the alternate plans they offer me are also too expensive. This means I will be without health insurance and no other company will accept me due to the PIC. This should be illegal. Thank you lots, BCBS. You people suck.

Huge issues with bcbsga. I've battled them for a year over a fairly simple (removal of salivary gland in neck, due to infection) surgery in Jan 2012. A year later I am still trying to get the anesthesiologist from the procedure paid. It has been every excuse under the sun to refuse payment to ents, gyn, primary,(mental) therapist. Bcbsga actually refused to make payment to the entire until I could get a past gyn to file records that they didn't have (gyn had no records because they had not seen me in the alotted time period requested)

The process exceeds ridiculous. Now it is a "wrong code" being filed that's "holding it up" -- as if that were the problem all along.

Bcbsga has refused payment to regular therapist (who dropped both my son and I because she just can not longer deal with their stress. She's called me yelling.) My son and I are different insure clients, as he is on a plan with his father.

My next step is to file a complaint with the insurance commission - in the meantime I call weekly expecting my credit to be ruined for lack of payment. I can't afford an attorney on my own just to prove bcbsga are fleecing $. I could use help on this
