Looks like the radical gay lobby is out in full force!

The Jarboe's really do a poor job of reflecting the teachings of the Scriptures come off as hate-mongers quite often. I believe the Scriptures and believe that homosexuality is a sin, but also believe that in America we should have the right to practice or not practice our faiths as we choose. Some support homosexuality, some do not. I believe we have the right to chose what we want to believe on the subject, but I don't believe any of us have the right to try to silence people who think differently. Name-calling is also unproductive. Perhaps if we listened to one another we might benefit from another perspective.

Not the radical gay lobby, but the local progressive Christian voice.

Chris, you are not a progressive Christian if you are denying the teaching of Scripture. That's not progress in any sense of the word. It's not Christian either.

We'll just have to get laws saying that sexually disordered, xstain talibangelicals can't marry members of the opposite sex or adopt or serve openly in the armed forces until these faith biased cretins get it through their hom skooled heads that this is not a theocracy.

You can certainly think what you want of me, but if you'd read my letter closely, you'd notice that the point is about Mr. Jarboe's intentionally deceptive argument--which appeals to the laws of government rather than scripture, I will add--and his appeals to laws he surely must know are no longer valid.

Last I checked bearing false witness is a commandment.(In the Bible.)

When Christ walked on this earth, his friends were tax collectors and "sinners." He intentionally walked on the outside of what was considered normal in his time. He befriended lepers, Samaritans, prostitutes, etc. He stood up against the religion of his time by challenging the religious laws and religous practices. Last time I checked, we, as Christians, should be following his example.

Mr. Jarboe, in his letter, is attacking something that was meant to be a positive, open forum of discussion for our children. Our children have a hard enough time in their teenage years, gay or straight, without the adult community around them turning on them, too. What does this teach them--that the right way to do things as adults is to ignore and condemn those who have opinions different from their own?

If you are against same-sex marriage then don't marry someone of the same sex. Period. Of course, I'm upset about the outcome of the Maine vote. Civil Rights don't come by a popular vote. They come through the courts. However, the Maine Legislature can just pass the law aagin (and that seems to be the plan). Get over it people! Same-sex civil marriage is a reality! It will happen nationwide in time. Why? Because we don't live in a theocracy and DOMA is unconstitutional. The government cannot treat one group of people different than another based on an arbitrary fact.
Mr. Morbius, I am far from a gay radical. I'm just not going to take flak from people like you. I'm not a scared little fag hiding in his closet. I fight back.

Seems to me that if the people oppose same-sex marriage, they have the authority to reject it and not have it forced down their throats by lefty ideologues...

Sexual sicko Ken Starr argued in support of CA's Prop 8 that citizens have the right to restrict the rights of a minority by a ballot proposition.

This could come back to haunt fundie, talibangelical kooks at some point in the not so far future. Fewer and fewer people are buying your sexually disordered, cult snake oil each year. We might put a stop to having religious freeeks shoving their theocratic psychosis down everyone's throats.

We're talking about a school club here. No one is forcing anyone to join the club. It is merely accessible to those students in the school district who would like to be a part of it. Gay students have rights, too. If they want to have a club, they're entitled to be able to do so.

Here is the biggest problem. When I was a young lad, there was no open discussions of gay, straight, bisexual, transgendered, etc... People left their personal lives at their doorstep every morning and picked it up when they return home from work or school. Now, we live in a world where media is in masses, and everything is news. I am sorry, do I really care what gay people want as rights, no. Why? Because Rights mean absolutely nothing in this country anyway. Tell me the definition of freedoms and try to compare what we have in this country to that definition and you find you can't. Freedom is free, no consequence, no repurcussions. Now what we do have should be called limited responsibilities, and I suggest that that the gay, straight, barnyard bandits all just go on with life and stop asking the government to allow them their dues. because no one owes anyone jack crap. Life is earned, what you acheive in it comes from hard work and being a valuable component in society. UI don't care if you are gay, just dont touch my butt. I don't care if you're straight, I am married and dont need another wallet digger. I don't care if you like chasin chickens, as long as I never start eating meat.
Keep your life to yourself and stop trying to gain fame and notariety in every possible way. Silly humans.

Last time I checked, Christ also called these "sinners" he was hanging with to repentance - or have you forgotten "Go, and sin no more." I recall that was a command, not a suggestion.

Keep in mind that Christ was hanging next to theives, not gay men. There's really not a comparison here. Gay people don't sin anymore than you or I. It's not their homosexuality that's a sin. In the same way that my heterosexual relationship with my husband is not a sin.

Again, we are talking about a school club here, not your church. In your church, you can disclude whoever you want (In mine, all are welcome). In a public school setting, kids have the freedom to have a gay club if they want it, in the same way they can start a Bible study if they want.

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Scorpio

Something that you've always taken for granted or believed implicitly could have a big question mark hanging over it during the next few weeks. The more entrenched your views are about this, the more difficult it will be to accept that perhaps it's time for a change of opinion or, at the very least, a revaluation of what you think. Mercury turns retro in your house of communications, so do your best to be open-minded now.
