This is one of the things that really torques me. Instead of behaving like responsible adults, some of our "good old boy" legislators continue to push this important matter to the "back burner." What could possibly be their motivation? "Oh ... but you don't understand, this is to protect our agricultural community." Oh yeah? From what ... so exempt them from law and get on with saving a few rednecks from killing themselves. This is so NOT hard to figure out.

I for one encourage this law not to be passed. I bought a pickup just because of this. If something hits my fullsize pickup and kills me, then a seat belt wouldn't make a difference. Hurray! I still get to drive around a few more years unbuckled.

Why would anyone that does NOT drive a pick-up care if those that do wear seat belts? Come on net dog if you want you can wear them but don't bother the rest of us. Thank you GA for realizing it is up to me. Now lets take it off the cars too for "adults" Sc did have it where adults did not have to wear them but fell to those that demanded every one do. By the way why do we have to type in the numbers below. Anyone can see what they are, so who could "not" type them in???

No seatbelts in a pickup in Georgia is just as stupid as not wearing a helmet on a motorcycle in Florida. I think insurance companies should take notice.

I'm a good ole boy redneck and I wear my seatbelt when I drive thru Larwenceville because Liberal Hippie Jane Fonda wannabe Netdog1 and his liberal buddies drive 105 mph to nowhere. Atlanta is a waste of time and space and those who live there for some strange reason believe they are important. One day you will realize that you live in a craphole of a city. Maybe our legislators should pass a law where all of you in the metro area are forced to use public transportation to keep you dumb liberals from tying up the connector when you decide to play bumper cars. Think before you speak. You sound dumb.

The fact is that a state should not have the right to force you to wear a seatbelt. Face it people, it is only there to for the money.
Laws are suppose to be designed to prevent you from hurting others not you hurting you. I agree that seat belts can save lives but look at the revenue that it is racked in and you will see that it's a cash cow. It's all about the money.

What is the exact law for wearing/not wearing a seat belt in a pick up truck?? I have heard many rumors such as if its under ten thousand pounds you do, if it has four doors you do, if its not a full size you do. Will some one point me to the correct web site because the ones i have found do not specify. Mathewcmill@aol.com

Any Person that is at least 18 years of age or older do not have to wear a seatbelt in a Pickup truck. Any person 18 YOA in the back passenger do not have to wear one. All commercial vehicles must wear one, EX- taxi passengers,USPS mail trucks, or stop and go deliver drivers whom have a speed under 25 MPH. Off-road this is a grey area
on some pickup truck, it will be a good State court decision. Wear one if you want or don't wear one, if you have a roll over in a truck your chances are far greater that you will live from not being thrown out and killed if you wear a seatbelt in a pickup truck. Some Insurance company's are looking into, if you don't have a seatbelt on and your injury's are great they contend that it would have been less by a seatbelt and will fight your claims. They are starting a special fund to do this.
And it looks like they are going to win more suits because of this, them using accident records from states that have mandatory seatbelt laws.
So who knows.

If you have a 'working' truck, and you are in the field, I can see not wearing a seatbelt, because you can be getting in and out of the vehicle. But on the open road, put that seatbelt on you dumb

I and my wife both drive pick-ups and both wear seatbelts. Not because we have too, but because she makes me.

The numbers at the bottom are so computer programs can't run, it makes it so only humans can answer. Some people run programs called BOTs that will solve problems and do things without a human really controlling it. Mostly found in gaming.

I wear mine because the kids tell me to. Also, in a semi-tractor on a rough road, you could be jostled out of the drivers seat, and you can't drive if you are not in the drivers seat.

Why do millions of school kids ride buses everyday and NONE of the buses even have seatbelts installed? If the legislature is concerned about safety, what about our kids??

I for one have never understood how the legislature can protect adults and continue to disregard the need for our school children. Such idiots making the laws are causing child death from school bus fatalities. Whats there Logic there?
If the law makers can make deadly laws for our children, then all adult (us citizen) should have the say how they want to die!
So much money on a war machine, but too much money to seat belt our school buses. Give Me A Break people!
