No new patients being admitted to Central State Hospital

Georgia's state-run psychiatric hospitals continue to have serious problems, and a recent Department of Justice visit to the largest facility - Central State Hospital in Milledgeville - led the hospital to stop taking new patients indefinitely.

I heard a rumor that Central State was in danger of closing...does anyone know if this is true? I hope someone thinks about the disservice to all of the current patients who have been long-time residents. I currently work in Mental Health, and I don't know where they would transfer all of those patients...well, maybe this would help create jobs, but please help save Central State first.

If Central State Hospital was run like any normal business it would have closed long ago. The administration is a complete joke and the few people who actually do the work make very little money. I say it needs all new leadership and it has to be restructured.

DOJ needs to find another way to fill their bank accounts bc in the Craig building, the patients get better care than any of the nursing homes I've been to. If you talk to the patients loved ones then they would tell you that this place offers the best care. Yes their were some incidents in the lock down buildings, but you know what.. you cant prevent everything. If the big wigs would step up and do their job then things like this wouldnt happen. There is a lack of leadership and consequences.

It def. needs all new leadership and restructured, but the patients do get the best care ( in the Craig building).
