The Orlando area with its sizeable Mexican population really deserves a first rate mex or even tex-mex restaurant.
Unfortunately at present we have quite a few places that are really not that bad, but certainly not that good. There of course is a simple solution. Just drive south on 436 until you reach the Orlando International Airport. Then catch the morning flight to San Antonio. Why, you'll be there in time for a first rate lunch far superior to anything you might find here. Just think just like old Mexico without the hassles. |

Garebaldi's on 436 near SR 50 has great tamales!

We live in baldwin park and actually love this place. Ill admit the service is less to be desired but the food is very good and seems very fresh.
Hopefully the mgt will heed the advice of Scott Joseph and make the changes necessary to make a good restaurant great. |

I just went to this restaurant 11/11/07.
Simply put: SUCKED The food was nowhere near "Mexican" - It's worse than PF Chengs' version of "Chinese" food. The food there is like South American. I want Mexican if I go to a Mexican restaurant. Personally, I think my shit could taste better than overcooked and chewy pieces of beef from here. The service was by the name of "Harrison", which I had no idea was the name of our waiter until I looked for it on the receipt. Additionally, I sat there looking at this guy trying to answer my friend's question about a dish by reading straight from the menu. Ok... Furhermore, I look at this receipt, and they charge me for "Sharing" my dish with my date. Sharing Charge?$5. On top of that, they charge additional tortillas for $2. Total senseless expenses -$7.$7 could buy me a better meal at another restaurant. Except for just getting plain tortillas, I actually get something worth eating. Think it ends there? Nope. All the core meals come with a side of soup. I didn't see any soup. What I saw was a charge for it. To tell you the truth, I'll probably won't stop by this place again, unless they need my shit to make their food taste a bit worth its price. Enjoy it, you go. Oh by the way, The "hottest" sauce isn't hot - it's more like cocktail sauce for shrimp. |

I thought I was the only one who realilzed the PF Changs is about as asian as my Mother in law. What non-seasoned, bland food! We like El Potro in the K mart plaza in WP and Pacos Tacos on Fairbanks. Both are pretty good....at least for Orlando. Used to be a couple of authentic Mexican restaurants in Apopka. |

I wrote a review yesterday 11/11/07
Just to let all readers know. My friend's credit card was charged $10 extra than signed. The $10 was directed to the tip amount. I have issued a complaint to Better Business Bureau, and will be walking over the the restaurant right now to talk to Management. I find this very shady. I never knew this would happen in person, and I'm very disappointed in the way this restaurant has taken a simple solution into a possible disaster for them. |

I recently went to Colibri for dinner with some friends. We ordered entrees from the dinner menu, which are supposed to come with a choice of black bean or chicken soup. Our waiter did not ask us which soup we wanted and did not bring us any at all. When we brought this up to our waiter at the end of the meal (having forgot about this during the actual meal), he did nothing to compensate for the missing soup - the bill was not adjusted and no offer was made to bring us the soup to go (or at all).
While this is not a huge deal, whatever happened to "the customer is always right" or even support of their printed menus? One of my friends noticed a car dealership advertisement that sounded "too good to be true" - a luxury car $10,000 less than the Kelly Blue Book value. It turned out to be a typo that the car dealership made accidentally. And you know what? The dealership honored the printed price, even though it was incorrect, because it was printed in the newspaper. I think that Colibri should have done SOMETHING about the problem on the menus they printed themselves, if a car dealership is willing to honor a $10,000 typo!! After all, how much does a couple bowls of soup *really* cost the restaurant? |

From this microcosm of reviews, it sounds like the problem with food, service, and unauthorized tips will solve itself soon. |

My husband and I dined at this restaurant only a few weeks after it opened. I was 9 months pregnant at the time and thought that maybe my dislike for the place was due to my hormones. I am glad to see that I am not the only one who thinks this establishment is not nearly up to par.
My first complaint is that there are no chips and salsa. I know that not all Mexican restaurants have to serve chips and salsa, but it would make this place at least seem nice upon being seated if they quickly served you something tasty to snack on other than some tortillas with some terribly bland sauce. Next, we ordered the guac, which was very tasty, but was served with crumbles of blue tortilla chips that you could tell were from out of a bag. After recieving our crumbles of chips with our $12 appetizer, I pointed to the crumbles and asked the waiter if we could possible get some more chips thinking that he would look at the lack of actual chips and say, "I am so sorry about that. Of course, I will gladly bring you some more." Instead, the respoinse was, "No." I had to do a double take. I looked at him and explained that I wasn't trying to complain, but there were merely crumbles of chips here and we couldn't even eat our dip. He grabbed the chips and said he would have to ask if he could get us some more. About 5 minutes later, he came back with more. More crumbles that is. I could go on and on about the terrible service and bland food, but I think it will raise my blood pressure to an unhealthy level if I were to continue. I had been so excited that BPK was getting a Mexican restaurant, but all we got was a huge dissapointment. I hope they either get it together or go out of business soon, so something good can take its place. If you want good Mexican food, go to El Cerro off of University Blvd. It has hot chips and spicy salsa upon arrival and excellent food and service. |

I cannot begin to express how bad my meal was! The enchiladas were completely gross - and I mean GROSS. They were cold and tasted like Taco Bell. The service was even worse. Our waitress was inattentive and unapologetic when she ignored us for 5 minutes while she cleaned the table next to us and then said the kitchen was really busy and was sorry for the wait, and she nenver brought me water after I asked for some TWICE.
Horrible place! All could be forgiven if the food was good but it really was bad. I rarely post things like this but seriously, do not go there. |

I wish I would have read these review before I ate at this place.... it does suck! Worse service I have ever had. The food was over priced for what we got which was uncle bens rice and a side of canned refried beans which came along with my $10. burrito. I didn't tip because the service was non existent but to my surprise as indicated by my bank statement I left a $7.00 tip. When I called to complain to the manager he said "O Bank of America does that sometimes". No apology what so ever!
To sum it up no service, over priced food and they steal your money!!!! |

I ate here several months ago, but am just reading these comments today. When we ate there, the food was okay, but the service was quite possibly the worst I have ever experienced in my life. The waiter didn't know anything about the menu, and brought both of us the wrong order! When we sent them back, one correct original order came back, and the other was still wrong! The server also did not came back while we ate, so we had empty drink glasses for way too long. I could go on, but you get the picture. I cannot recommend this restaurant based on my experience there.

I went to this resaraunt for my first time and I didn't get my beans and rice with my lunch. I admit that food that they did remember to put on my plate was pretty good. I also think that they need to bring the prices down for the lunch specials. I'm sure everyone feels guilty spending $9 on a $5.95 meal. If i worked there I would be extemely nervous if a Taco Bell opened up across the street. I have to go apologize to my wallet now.

First of all, I really wish I knew if this place had a corporate website. Regardless, I hope this place folds and is replaced by a restaurant.
We went to dine last night, and stood up at the hostess stand for five minutes before someone came and talked to us. We put our name on the waiting list for an outside table and told the hostess we would be at the bar. When we walked up to the bar, what I thought was the bartender, since he was sporting a mohawk, was sitting down at the bar and just stared at us as we walked up to it. He immediately got up and disappeared. After much disbelief, and about 5-10 more minutes a customer said something to us that they must have gotten busy outside.(Here I must mention that there are only 8 tables outstide and a server, or two, can handle that quite easily) Finally, the mohawked kid returned, as well as another person who proceeded to get our drink orders. When I gave him mine, he served someone else a beer and came back to me. Hello, do you not know how to serve who you are helping fist? When walking outside, I asked the hostess who the mohawked kid was and was astounded to find out that it was the manager! That set the precedent. A manager, I would have thought, would great you and rush back to the bar, not disappear, and certainly would not be sitting at the bar with the customers. While we were having our drinks, we noticed that there were two empty outside tables and a large party had taken a third. All this, and the hostess had not even come up to us!! This place is a joke!! We proceeded to leave and go to PR's in Winter Park and had great food and great service from Angela. So save yourself the hassle and do not go here! |

If you don't like tequila in your Margaritas, then by all means go to Colibri and order them by the pitcher full.
The only good thing about this place is the lakeside seating. Hope the restaurant that takes over soon will be better. |

Horrible place. they stoled my money as well... made a mistake on the bill and it took weeks to correct it. Poor service, poor food quality, too salty! Don't waste your time or money.

My husband and I live in Baldwin Park and have been avoiding El Colibri. Months ago when we saw the prices (for Mexican!) we decided to stay away. Tonight we were going to take our friends there but quickly changed our minds after the reviews. Thanks for the heads up. I guess for now Valdiano's and Seito continue to be the only good restaurants in our neighborhood!
