This study is dumb. Less pedestrians die in Minnesota than Florida because the weather and the sprawling metro area keep people from walking down the street. Who pays for this stuff? I sure hope it isn't funded by taxpayers.

Huzzah! We spent the most higher percentage of money on strolling and rolling paths than almost everyone else. But...but...there are still evil cars in Minneapolis (though they are completely stopped due to the brain-dead parking and bike-line changes downtown). Surely we can just put up big barricades to stop all traffic from coming into town, can't we? The people that work and live here won't mind riding the bus or choo-choo everywhere with the gang bangers and drug dealers...I'm sure of it.

In fact, I bet if Mayor McFountains tries hard enough, he can keep all the evil outsiders that come to Minneapolis to work or spend entertainment dollars out altogether...

Trying to cross 15th Ave SE after getting off the buss during rush hour is effing dangerous! In three years I've had just a handful of drivers obey the law and yield to me when I try to cross the street. I'm going to shoot the next person who refuses to yield to a pedestrian. As least when I'm walking I'm not putting carcinogens into the air live drivers do!!

This is very hard for me to believe while trying to cross streets in downtown Minneapolis is very dangerous. Even with eye contact some people barrel their car right in front of you. If this report is true then cities below us must be even scarier than Minneapolis on foot.

You just got off a carcinogen producing bus you dipstick. Don't act like because you were walking from the bus stop to your abode that you're better than anyone else. All of you libs who complain about the internal combustion engine should take a good hard look at how your food gets to the local grocery store, how your clothing gets to the department store and how your sorry butt gets to work [that is assuming that you do work] on a daily basis. And by the way, the next time you or any other pedestrian crosses the street in the middle of the block or against a light I believe it will be perfectly okay for me to run their butt over.. afterall you intend to shoot a driver. Turn about is fair play...right.

Walk out in front of a car next time. I'm sure they will be happy to stop your CO2 emitting mouth from ever opening again.

No, they are safer because people in other cities don't just walk around with their holier-than-thou attitude, and wait until it is safe to cross the street. Everywhere else people have figured out (like my kids did at the age of 2) that you look, look, look and when it is clear, you cross the street. That simple mantra has worked since the days people rode horses down Main Street, but all the 'we own the city' strollers and rollers have suddenly decided they don't need to wait their turn.

Having the right of way and winning in a car-pedestrian collision are 2 very different things.

Brilliant! Blindly step into traffic trusting that cars see you, and pop a cap off if they don't. Of course that may prove difficult with your face smashed into the asphalt.

Stepping out into traffic under the assumption that a 2-4000lb car can stop on a dime is not wise. Maybe you should give the cars a little more lead time to see you before you shoot yourself in the foot!

Congratulations to the Honorable Mayors, Mr. Coleman and Mr. Rybak. This shows how well rounded and comprehensive programs can pay off for the citizens.

And did you notice where the least safe streets were? In that wonderful Republi-thug haven of Florida. Isn't that the state that Bushco's baby brother was the Governor of up until recently?

I live just a couple blocks off from 15th Ave SE, and have RARELY seen a driver not yield to a pedestrian WHO IS FOLLOWING THE LIGHTS.

Of course, once you get your fat arse out of the intersection, you are probably one of the college brats that walks down the middle of the street, RATHER than on the sidewalk. It's no wonder people seem to be trying to run you down. Almost every street in SE has a sidewalk (or even one on EACH side of the street) that are made for PEDESTRIANS, if you actually use them, you don't have to worry about me nearly running you down while I drive between the rows of parked cars in the neighborhood, stopping for signs, traffic, and trying to avoid the morons.

That's because more people drive autos in the Twin Cities than in other metro areas because of the long winters. The hypocrisy is that MN is a liberal haven but you can bet more people drive gas-guzzling cars in this region than in other states.

Not outside Joe and Stan's bar on W 7TH street. Today at 7 PM a pedestrian was severely injured out in front of JOE AND STAN'S BAR AGAIN!

We here on west 7TH are so lucky to have these dirtbaggers in our neighborhood!

Well, I was just informed the young lady struck out in front of JOE AND STAN'S BAR has died.

Each morning I walk to the bus stop and there are bottles and cups all along the street. How are these items getting out of the bar?

This bar as well as the others in this neighborhood must be shut down!

You're struggling to get everything finished in time today, making you feel fractious and tired. At some point you may have to take a pragmatic decision about which tasks must be completed today and which will have to be postponed until another day. Do your best to keep things in proportion otherwise you'll waste time in trivial details and needless nit-picking.
