Archbishop: Gay marriage violates "design of nature"

There are 93 comments on the Seattle Post-Intelligencer story from May 9, 2013, titled Archbishop: Gay marriage violates "design of nature". In it, Seattle Post-Intelligencer reports that:

The chairman of U.S. Catholic bishops' Subcommittee for the Promotion and Defense of Marriage has denounced legalization of same-sex marriage in Rhode Island as violating "the very design of nature." The Rhode Island Legislature voted for marriage equality last week, making the Ocean State the 10th state to legalize same-sex marriage.

Why duck the question?
I'm not. The ferry is docking as I write this, and my "vacation" is over. Web access from now on is only for our business.

Bye bye TOPIX peeps.

So long and thanks for all the fish.

You seem to be confusing credibility with possibility. While two people of the same gender can’t possibly conceive a child, they certainly can and some actually marry, at least in some of the more progressive of these United States, the point being that anything factual is credible to those who don’t live in a state of denial. Immaculate conception, on the other hand, is a religious construct and the meaning of immaculate is open to a variety of definitions. Be that as it may, immaculate sex is probably not all that popular with most folks, gay, straight to “other."

You appear to be confused over the definition of credibility. The gist of my post was that homosexual marriage is not credible, neither is immaculate conception. No matter how much either is foisted upon society at large by homosexuals and zealots, both are stupid concepts.

I’m certainly not confused about the definition of credibility. It means believability, tenability, and so on. When you say that neither gay marriage nor immaculate conception is credible, you unnecessarily equate them to make a point that itself is invalid. Gay marriage is definitely believable. If you don’t believe it, please not that it now exists in a growing number of states. What can I say to convince you other than “seeing is believing.” By the way, speaking of confusion, you seem to confuse that which you believe to be “stupid”(apparently a vague term of disapproval) with laking credibility/believability.

There’s no shame in being wrong or recognizing it and standing corrected. It’s a great way to learn and grow. You seem like a person who wants to appear intelligent, so why not hone your verbal skills and application of logic?

Barren/infertile couples can possibly achieve the public purpose of marriage. Homosexuals can never do this.

The vast majority of Catholics are good people. They have good intentions, they do good things, they actually go out and help people.
But sadly, throughout the history of this organization, there have been several instances when a small minority--usually the leaders at the top--become corrupt, and engage in violent, unspeakably perverse acts... often to the advancement of their own power, or to the service of their own pleasures and vices. Usually both.
The Inquisitions were one such instance. The 20th Century Child Molestations are the latest.
People in glass houses have no business throwing stones, lest flying glass shards render them blind, or worse.
So, until the current generation of Catholics have taken the proper steps to cleanse from within--via excommunications, criminal convictions, assassinations, exterminations--the current leadership really has no business commenting on the morals of anyone else.
Plain English: Until you clean up your own backyard and remove the planks and logs from your own eyes, do us all a favor, and shut your fuckin' pieholes. All of you.
Amen and AMEN!
