May 9, 2013 Full story: Seattle Post-Intelligencer 93

The chairman of U.S. Catholic bishops' Subcommittee for the Promotion and Defense of Marriage has denounced legalization of same-sex marriage in Rhode Island as violating "the very design of nature." The Rhode Island Legislature voted for marriage equality last week, making the Ocean State the 10th state to legalize same-sex marriage.

Next time you listen to devout Catholic Dave Brubeck's Take Five (or the Unsquare Dance that Google just showcased), you'll see who the perennials are and where the cool is.

Why wear red?
Red is the devilís favorite color because it's filled with little demons that infest on those who wear it.

Better warn the Lutherans (Selecia linked a Lutheran Church page) before the "red out" on Sunday.

......and it's simply "infest", vs. "infest on".

NONE of us, except for their poor gay kids who're SO programmed to need daddy's approval want the RCC's "endorsement" !!! NONE of the rest of us give a crap for their "endorsement".
What a completely absurd thought.
We want them out of CIVIL laws.
You want people out of civil law?

..wait-not all people, thus those who may have differing opinions from yours should stay "out" of the process. Did I get that right?

So, you would reject, out of hand, the support of any denomination for SSM?

.....a slogan which omits the fact that people who compose our government (voters/representatives) can be part of a religious body.

I mean, social issue cross over. Not just for gay issues.

They are to be silenced?

I observe it as a phenomenon that seeks to counteract the claims of the opponents of Marriage Equality that religious groups and leaders all oppose it.

I neither accept nor reject it.

Only regarding religious rationale for government action.

The solution to what will become a need for a governmental pantheon of "Congressional chaplains", etc. to satisfy every form of sectarianism is to simply banish such things entirely to the private sphere and out of any form of governmental observance.

Religious elements in oaths of office, courts, "National Prayer Breakfasts", "Red Masses" and the like, all sow the seeds of sectarian conflicts.

What rationale do you expect the religious to hew to?
Again, they don't sponsor bills. They can, as you do, support or oppose government policies, yes?

You should oppose vocal support inasmuch as you decry the RCC's vocal opposition, yes?

No gay rights supporter that I've seen tells the UMC or the Episcopalians to "butt out" when they go on record as affirming gay marriage. They appear en masse to denounce the RCC when they oppose it.

Again, you said "I neither accept nor reject it".

Assuming you support same sex marriage, do you welcome involvement in the affirmative from folks like UCM or TEC, or should they stay out of it as you insist the RCC do?
