After NRC rebuff, groups will ask court to delay Georgia nuclear plant
On Monday, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission rejected a request to halt construction of two new nuclear reactors at Southern Co.'s Plant Vogtle.

Delays cost money. Because the environmental groups are unalterably opposed to nuclear power (it's part of their religion), they want to make it as expensive as possible so that they can claim that nuclear power is too expensive. The delays also enable them to complain that building nuclear plants takes too long and is always behind schedule.
The actions of these environmental groups are also intended to force us to attempt to use renewable sources, even though they are extremely expensive, supply only intermittent power, and cannot supply continuous reliable power. Ultimately, that will prolong our dependence on coal.
