Walmart; The High Cost of Low Price

There are 52 comments on the www.topix.com story from Jan 26, 2011, titled Walmart; The High Cost of Low Price. In it, www.topix.com reports that:

A screening and discussion showing why many DC residents are concerned about Walmart's efforts to open big box stores in the District of Columbia.

Walmart has plans to establish four stores in DC by 2012. Notorious for threatening small businesses, causing the loss of more jobs, and bringing lower wage standards for all workers to communities, concerned District of Columbia citizens and social justice advocates are coming together to spread the news and resist the potentially disastrous implications for the District.

The small town, "Mom & Pop" stores are often owned by folks who get elected to the city council and then proceed to protect their territory by refusing to issue permits to those who would build new stores in that town.

Can't happen in Trinity?

Take another look.

Wal-Mart does NOT use 'capitalism' since that system is based on something once known here as FREEDOM. They use the typical techniques of Fascism to subjugate both employees and rivals by ANY means necessary.

Shortly we will see just how many they really have on their political payrolls as the Supreme Court begins hearing what will be a landmark case and a tide-turning event once the ruling is made, should they choose to.

You need to dig VERY DEEP into the twisted 'philosophies' of its founder and his heirs, it is as UN-American as you can get without outright subversion or treason.

That is what capitalism IS.

It is a dictatorship system designed to make as much profit as possible. Period.

Year on year growth and increasing profits while lowering labor and product costs, and paying as little in taxes as possible to net the shareholders as much as possible IS the American way of business. "Freedom" is not even in the same genre, and "business" capitalism is the exact opposite of democracy.

I'm tired of Wal-Mart employees that fart then try to pin the blame on the customers.

Wow, finally someone who actually understands it and its inherent dangers to a concept known as Liberty. Three votes for you today :)

That is the standard operating procedure here in a nutshell!

However, as they slowly die off, that opens up before unknown opportunities for our communities that have heretofore been stomped out and run off like a rat carrying black plague fleas when the ever present "cancer of corruption" became the status quo. The way things are run here you would think you were in old Soviet Russia which made it only natural for me as an actual American to combat its Evil economic death-grip that has maintained a stranglehold on its subservient citizens.

Fortunately, no one on the city council except for Clegg truly understands applied economics or things would be more like feudalism and we would not be permitted to even discuss this topic without being thrown into the dungeon or placed in other some other mid-evil torture device for an 'attitude adjustment'.

So I have been, am and will continue to recruit new businesses into our area no matter what the opposition.

No one is "owed" a damn thing unless they worked or EARNED it in some way, shape or form other than merely existing with their begging hands out!

Those who do get "public relief" of ANY kind should be REQUIRED to pay it back in some way, shape or form!

One method could be documented volunteering in all sorts of capacities in their very own communities.
Since councilman Smith has repeated VOWED to dismantle our police dept, then that would be the first priority ... to supplement it with Citizen Patrols which is embraced by legitimate law-enforcement agencies. But NOT this one!!

Others could be in a myriad of other services they can provide, like picking up the TRASH, mowing and maintaining the grounds of ALL of our government owned properties. A city and/or county-wide 'beautification' program, juvenile and senior activity programs, the list is truly endless once you give it some REAL thought.

In my haste I did leave out perhaps one of the ONLY exceptions, the "completely" physically disabled who can be easily identified by their physical visually apparent handicaps.

Even those with alleged bad-backs or whatever can use their eyes and ears to patrol their neighborhoods, even if it is on a scooter, esp if that scooter was paid for with TAX-dollars!
