"What is the big issue in this state about having public restrooms?"

I guess that is the real misunderstanding. The restroom is part of as privately owned property, and not a publicly owned property. Now why does that state not have restrooms of their own?? That might be a question. But by definition, a restroom on private property is not a public restroom. It is a private complimentary restroom. And in most states, if you don't serve any food, you are not required to have a restroom.

So I guess in Connecticut you have to plan ahead more. Last time I was there, I drove through the whole state in about 1.5 hours. It is not like you are driving across Utah or Nevada or freaking Texas where there are literally 100 miles between anything, and no trees to hide behind.... You can drive 12 hours in Texas and still be in Texas...

I went into a Walgreen in Austin, Texas with my son after shopping for about two to three hours. I was going to shop there but thought I would use the restroom so I could relax before shopping because I had an urgent need to go. I asked the store manager where the restroom was and he stated that they didn't have public restrooms. I stated that was ridiculous and the explanation given was because there was too much stealing in that part of town. This bothered me, because I don't steal and my need to use the restroom at the time was certainly greater than my need to steal. I asked if that was the policy in all Walgreens; no public restrooms. I was told it was at the managers discretion. Needless to say I wasn't able to spend my money there because I had to go badly, neither did I want to spend my money at a store that denied me of a basic and natural right.
"A basic natural right" Lets talk about rights. What about property rights of the owner? Does he not have the right to do with his own property what he wants to? Now you do have the right to do with your property, money, what you wish to and go to another store.

I am real sure the constitution only guarantees the right to "life liberty and the pursuit of happiness", and not the right to pee anywhere you want to on others property. Next time you are in Colorado, feel free to pee on my electric fence..

You know.. This is the same thing as saying,

"I was driving buy your house that has a home business and I got to go the bathroom, so it is my 'natural right' to come inside your house on your own personal property and use your restroom". I bet those people who are complaining would not like that. Much less 250 people a day coming into their house and using their restroom.

What about the people who pull up in their $50,000 Escalade with their brat son Johnny who pick things up and put them down in the wrong spot or smashes them when they say to Johnny,'No Johnny, put that down, we are going to get something somewhere else, now go to the free bathroom'. I should enplane 90% of these people are coming from Cripple Creek casinos where they plopped down thousands of dollars for nothing and feel ripped off at a c-store which actually gives them something for their money and lets their brat pee in a complimentary bathroom.

International Plumbing Code section 403.6. Customers, patrons, and visitors shall be provided with public toilet facilities in structures and tenant spaces intended for public utilization. This goes back to before the 2000 building code and most municipalities are up to the 2006 code by now.

I wouldn't care if it was legal to piss in public. I've been watering a parking garage for months now because Stamford has this issue and I work from my car.
