Who needs 4,000 extra boaters from the bronx? They don't do anything but pollute the lake with the garbage they toss overboard and they dont shop in or stop at local stores.
Help lake residents control noise, keep pollution in check, and raise the value of our lake to all by keeping out of state boaters off of our lake !!
you should work for the tourism board.

How about a $500 sticker to allow you to drink beer on your boat? That would raise a lot more money...

I'll say it again ,hillbillies. Out of state boaters pay 100.00 per year to use their boat . Local residents pay nothing ,they already paid for that privilege by paying the myriad of taxes already being collected .

It's just another tax on the working class! Why don't they use some of the money from all the taxes on gas or cut out some of their pork barrel spending! These lawmakers are all the same, USELESS!

Out-of-staters should be charged ALOT more. Also not only should they have a limit to the amount of boats on the lake but also a size limit. Some of those boats out there belong on the sound or on the ocean. There's been those out there that empty their bulge pumps right into the lake & they know who they are!!

Good points...
TAXES and more TAXES..Taxes on what you own , Taxes on the gas, Taxes to use the New Milford ramp, and now a tax to be on the lake. Drain the lake and build a shopping mall if you need more taxes..

Remedial math would help in your lack of understanding of basic math.
Your DEP only allows 50 tournament boats from each ramp. The DEP guide book list 100 boats per ramp so the other fifty are pleasure boaters when the ramps are full.
The 100 tournament fishermen are by far the safest group on the water because we are forbidden to have any alcohol in our boats by our rules.
When we are practicing for a tournament we sleep in area motels. We eat in the area restaurants. We buy gas in the local gas stations for boat and car. We stop at local tackle shops and buy a license which costs 20 dollars more than a resident license. We buy tackle that is recommended by the local tackle shop. This is about $250 dollars a day or more per person that gets dumped into your local economy.

Thanks Clark.....

Did you read the article? It was not even passed yet. They did not even vote on it yet. I wish you people would read the entire article before you comment. Do you think voting for his opponent (if he has one) will help your taxes stay low? Have you read anything about how the Dems vote at the state level? Why do you think our state taxes are so high? Are you going to speak at the hearing against this or just whine in the paper.

They ask why the workers are moving out of CT. Then put on more tax for a pass time we all like todo. Maybe you can tax the air too. We all need that to get by on.You can bet the money will go to some other thing then the lake. Oh well you all make lots of money in CT. whats one more Tax.

The fee does not apply to canoes, kayaks, and I do beleive sail boats are also exempt.
You risk injury or worse using a canoe or small sail boat on Candlewood during summer weekends. Many boaters have forgotten courtesy and regard to rules. They would rather leave a three foot wake than risk spilling their beer by slowing down.

Leave the rates the same. Raise the fines big time! Let the offenders pay for the patrols.

50$ is a small price to pay for what the Lake gives. The Towns, State, D.E.P. and Club A should get this implemented and use the monies for the benefits of the future of the Lake as a natural resource.

i agree...let the drunks and the stupid boaters pay for the extra fees. that means the trout troopers will have to do there job and look out for jerks on the lake to bring in the cash...not just have it handed to them....it sounds like someones relatives need a summer job...at our expense...

Hell, I dont even bring my powerboat out there on week-ends. I only go fishing on weeknights and even that can get crazy, there are alot of inconsiderate boaters out there. Yeah a canoe would be suicidal on a week-end.

Let me explain to you what we are doing to the lake.

We are fishing!!!!

Engaging in a Legal recreational activity that and we pay a license fee for that privilege.

That fee goes for the stocking and maintenance of the ramps.

Do you really think that those 25 -35 foot cabin cruisers are powered by 20 hp engines?
Many of the bass boats you see are used on other bodies of water that may be over 100 miles long, such as Lake Erie and Lake Champlain. I agree you do not need such a big motor on Candlewood but you do on these other bodies of water.

If there is a boat exceeding the Speed limit I have no Qualms about seeing that boater getting a ticket and reported to the Tournament Director to be disqualified.

At least we are SOBER and wearing life jackets while on the water.
