So you will not be able to just go canoeing in the lake without shelling out more tax money....

Won't work unless DEP enforces the launching sites AND they hit the Bass Federation for the fees in applications! Great idea...

The fee does not apply to canoes, kayaks, and I do beleive sail boats are also exempt.

The fees should at LEAST triple for out of state boats.

At least!! Charge the out-of-state people $100 to launch. The people that don't come will lighten the stress on the lake. The people that do, will help pay for better ramps. Maybe they could pave Latin's Cove.

If I'm not mistaken, it's any boat with a motor and any sailboat over 20'.

I think it's a very good idea and will help with some of the crowding. It will also give the CLA more resources to help to do research on the lake and keep it healthy for years to come.

The Monies to Pave and redo Latins cove were held up By Mr Malony when he tacked on a rider to an unemployment bill to stop the Upgrades to the Launch. This Money came from the Wallop Breaux What is Wallop Breaux? As explained in the House Resources Committee’s Subcommittee on Fisheries Conservation, Wildlife and Oceans’ oversight plan “Federal Aid in Sport Fish Restoration Act of 1952 (Sport Fishing and Boating Enhancement Fund or the Wallop-Breaux Trust Fund): This fund is derived from fees, taxes, and duties imposed on (recreational) fishing equipment,(non-commercial) motorboat fuel, imported watercraft, and fishing tackle. The revenues are allocated to the States, on a formula basis, and are used to protect natural resources and enhance recreational (fishing and boating) opportunities for millions of Americans. Since its inception, more than $2 billion has been collected and allocated to the States.” In recent years this fund has provided over $350 million annually to the various State agencies responsible for managing fresh and salt water fish. Understandably these funds are dedicated to recreational boating and fishing programs and projects, on face value an example of users paying the fees and getting the government services in return.

See we already pay the fees to upkeep and repair the ramps. This is not a fair tax. The CLA should not be the Enforcement body of lake issues that duty belongs to the DEP.
How can a group dedicated to trying to block use of the lake enforce the rules without BIAS.

You don't get it there are only 200 Boat Spaces available at the Two State Launches, 100 spaces at each launch. 5,000 acres divided by 200 = 25 acres per boat. Can you honestly sit there and not see facts.

The ramps are not where the boat traffic is coming from it is from the boats moored on the lake, around 3000 boats are moored at the marinas.

How much money is generated just by docking fees alone? Take 3000 times $100 per foot average boat is twenty feet. I keep hearing that there is no money being brought in by outsiders that is over 6 million dollars being brought into the local economy just in docking fees. Yeah right, let’s just ban everyone from the lake that doesn't have Waterfront and watch your taxes go up.

Wake up people Make the state do their job. Do you go out and start your own armed Militia because you don't like that someone uses the roads in your neighborhood

thanks, clark...

if i wanted someone to raise taxes, i would have voted for a democrat... and this amounts to a new tax.

i already pay a registration fee to the state, taxes to the town, and as tax.

isn't that enough, clark?

i hope you are out in november,,,

no more patrols

Making out of staters pay more to use the lake is a sound idea. Wasting this revenue on "greatly expanded DEP patrols" is a complete waste an only serves to expand the police state that we already have.
How about spending the money on getting some of the seaweed out of the lake or something constructive?

I already pay enough taxes in Danbury. They should not be allowed to do this without a public vote at least. Make the people out of state or out of town pay not the towns around the lake.

I agree with Mr.Marsicano, his thought is right for all boaters.we owners work hard to keep our lake nice and controled.the men who work and protect our lake to be safe should be well paid.I live on a part of the lake that is high traffic and boaters don,t care how fast or the laws on the lake!more power to you Mr.marsicano!!!!!!!!!!

c'mon people how can you complain about this??? this is a great idea and its about time it happens...the cost of owning a boat is high, this is just another small expense to protect where you use it, it's not even equal to half a tank of gas...the using, storing, maintaining your boat costs are 10 times more than the cost of a venue to use it...this helps Lake can you complain about this??

unbelievable, a luxury tax for those who can't afford it.

#18 Feb 19, 2008
yeah, it does cost a lot to maintain a boat, which is why I can't afford to shell out another 50 bucks for the "right" to use the lake. and don't be so dumb to think this money is going where they say it's going!

Out of state people wanting to use our lake should pay MUCH MUCH higher fees than residents.

Who needs 4,000 extra boaters from the bronx? They don't do anything but pollute the lake with the garbage they toss overboard and they dont shop in or stop at local stores.

Help lake residents control noise, keep pollution in check, and raise the value of our lake to all by keeping out of state boaters off of our lake !!

Just another reason this state is headed the way it is , the rich get richer and the poor get poorer , this will only affect the poor old timer wanting to go out and enjoy a day of fishing and can't even afford his perscriptions but want's to get some fish for a meal , the property owner with 2 cruiser's and the 4 jet ski's for his kids will laugh at the 50 bucks for each water craft , Wake Up People!!!
