I said *yesterday* that we had only to wait a week or two for the next mass murder... it seems we only had to wait a few hours...

A Denton County man shot his wife before fatally shooting himself in an attempted murder-suicide late Saturday, the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies were dispatched to Providence Village, a housing community, at 11:17 p.m. Saturday after a hang-up 911 call. Deputies heard shots when they arrived, said Denton County sheriff’s spokesman Tom Reedy.

Inside a home in the 1300 block of Oakcrest Drive, deputies found a 48-year-old woman who had been shot in the stomach. She was flown to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, where she underwent surgery. She was in the hospital’s Surgical Intensive Care Unit Sunday evening.

Her 50-year-old husband was dead in the home. After shooting his wife, authorities said, he shot himself with a handgun.

The woman’s 23-year-old special-needs daughter was home but was uninjured. She was placed in the care of a family member, Reedy said.

The attempted murder-suicide was the second in Providence Village in less than two months.

On Nov. 5, Denton County sheriff’s deputies discovered the bodies of 29-year-old Nelson Rafael Rodriguez-Doran and 27-year-old Christina Marie Allen when they responded to a welfare concern at a house in the 10200 block of Lakeview Drive. Investigators think Rodriguez-Doran shot Allen multiple times, including once in the head, with a semiautomatic pistol before shooting himself in the head.

Allen had a 10-year-old son, who was not home. Authorities said family members are caring for the boy.

Neighbors said Rodriguez-Doran had recently returned from his second tour of duty in Afghanistan. The family had lived in the house just a few weeks.

A Georgia mother realized the person trying to enter her house was a threat. She called her husband, asked him to alert the police then hustled the children, and herself into a closet, the closet where they kept the guns. When the bad guy opened the closet door she shot him 5 times, then ran, with the children, to a neighbors house. The criminal didn't die, managed to go outside where the police later picked him up. She and her children were saved from God only knows. The bad guy just got out of prison a few months ago. He lives to go back again.

I am with the heroic mother who saved her children, and shot a filthy criminal who felt free to enter her house without permission to do who knows what. I am just sorry she wasn't a better shot, and he lived. Now we have to feed him, and house him for 20 years.

ELKTON, Md.- January 3, 2013 (WPVI)-- A 10-year-old Lancaster County girl, who was shot in the head by a bullet apparently fired during a celebration to mark the New Year, has died.

The girl, Aaliyah Boyer, succumbed to her injuries late Thursday morning, police said.

"What do you do when your 10-year-old's not there," Aaliyah's mother Crystal Blackburn said to Action News after the loss of her child.

Aaliyah was struck by a bullet while watching fireworks in the backyard of a relative's home on Ajs Court in Elkton, Maryland around 12:10 a.m. Tuesday.

"Everyone was having a nice time," said Aaliyah's aunt Ashleigh Rice during an interview on Wednesday. "There were just fireworks around us."

"The next thing I knew they carried her in and she was just limp," Blackburn said.

Blackburn said they never even heard the gunshots over the sound of fireworks.

"I thought maybe she passed out because she did have a little bit of blood, but nothing significant," Blackburn said.

"We didn't know what happened. We thought she passed out and hit her head," Rice said.

Police say Aaliyah had been hit in the head by a stray bullet.

"She was blue. Her fingers were blue. Her toes were blue," Rice said.

Doctors determined last night that Aaliyah was brain dead.

Her mother spent a final night with her daughter at A.I. duPont Hospital for Children.

On Thursday morning, the family donated her organs, at least 3 children were saved.

Aaliyah's heart went to another little girl at the very same hospital.

"I pray for those kids that they make it, that they live long happy lives with Aaliyah's gift," Blackburn said.

Aaliyah's mother also tells Action News that her home in Delaware was burglarized since the shooting and some of the kids' brand new Christmas presents were stolen.

However, it was not Aaliyah's home - she lived with her grandmother in Manheim, Pa.

Crystal Blackburn says she plans to file a police report eventually, but for right now, she is focusing on burying her daughter.

She also says there have been fake Facebook funds set up to raise money for the family. She said the correct information would be made public once a memorial account is set up.

The funeral for Aaliyah will be held in Lancaster County where the young girl lived.

It's illegal to fire a gun into the air in Maryland, so police are now trying to figure out who fired the shot.

"To fire a gun for a celebratory reason is just a terrible, horrible idea and incidents like this can happen," said Lt. Michael Holmes of the Cecil County Sheriff's Office.

"I know things happen and it was an accident, but this person is out there and they have no clue what they did just because they were just not thinking," said relative Katie Shoap.

(CNN)-- A 20-year-old Florida woman was in critical condition Friday after she shot and killed her 6-month-old son and then turned the gun on herself, police said.

Authorities found Melanie Reyes and her baby after performing a welfare check at the request of Reyes' family, who called 911 to report a statement on her Facebook page in which she "indicated she was going to shoot her child and herself," according to the Marion County Sheriff's Office.

Both were transported to a hospital, where the infant was pronounced dead.

Troubled Reyes had previously told court officials she became unemployed in June and was living on food stamps, according to The Gainsville Sun.
She was fighting the father of her son, Jordan Mendoza, in the courts over his visitation rights to Jonah.
She was also accused of attacking a more recent partner, Marcelino Febo, with a baseball bat. She had posted a $2,500 bond on December 21.
One of the conditions of her release was no ownership or possession of a firearm.

looks like gun control laws and court orders were really effective.

also looks like she would have used anything to accomplish her end.
so how about you put everything in its proper context and tell the whole story.

typical of you, facts are not ever very important.

she wasn't going to lose the kid to the father. so she would have killed him anyway she could have. a baseball bat was the weapon of choice one time.
now go ahead and check her out. she is not an exemplary citizen but a criminal with a record.
