Translation: congrats CLP & UI customers - now you know how much you've been overcharged for someone else.A state effort backed by $9 million supplied by utility ratepayers...
"approved". Right. HOW many have actually been INSTALLED? And how have they been paying-back?In the past 22 months, 2,160 residential solar systems contracts have been approved.
Again, what's the rate-of-payback? Over what kind of period? 5 years? 10? 20? And the efficiency of the system and its components? After a state rebate of about $8,000 and a 30 percent federal tax credit, the cost of a home solar system would be cut to $8,000 to $12,000.
IF you're running DC equipment then solar panels aren't such a bad thing. But you can't reasonably run AC appliances because DC->AC conversion isn't all that great. And 'running your meter backwards' might save you the cost of the power, but you're not returned the SURCHARGES for that amount (and THAT can be almost HALF the variable part of your monthly bill).
