1 I'm quite familiar with the US and Colorado Constitutions. In neither document do I find a "right" to produce, grow, distribute, or ingest "whatever they want to". "Harm" is not a necessary aspect for something to be illegal. As a matter of fact and of law, marijuana prohibition laws have been repeatedly found to be constitutional. Nor do these Constitutions guarantee the life, liberty, or pursuit of happiness of citizens. "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness" is a phrase from the Declaration of Independence and holds no force in law. We're never going to get marijuana legalized by pretending that prohibition is unconstitutional. |

" In neither document do I find a "right" to lock people in cages because a newspaper baron and a rich industrialist wanted to get more powerful and control several industries. "We're never going to get marijuana legalized by pretending that prohibition is unconstitutional." And when will you quit pretending that prohibition is working? Geez, you couldn't get more people using cannabis if you made it mandatory. You may live in a world of laws but the rest of us live in a world of right and wrong. We call that justice and it's not the same justice you find in the courthouse. Oliver Wendall Holmes anyone? "As a matter of fact and of law, marijuana prohibition laws have been repeatedly found to be constitutional." The law may be found constitutional...but then so was slavery. Like I said...the rest of us live in a world of right and wrong. Cannabis prohibition is WRONG! |

@Buzzby, You are familiar with nothing. At least do SOME research before you open your ignorant, sycophantic mouth.
From Article II ( a little something called the bill of rights), Section 3 of the COLORADO CONSTITUTION: Section 3. Inalienable rights. All persons have certain natural, essential and inalienable rights, among which may be reckoned the right of enjoying and defending their lives and liberties; of acquiring, possessing and protecting property; and of seeking and obtaining their safety and happiness. I think the more salient point is that the government is supposed to do what the people say, not the other way around. The PEOPLE should decide what is and isn't constitutional. And the voters here in Colorado have begun to be heard. Maybe it's time to take a closer look at section 2 of the same Colorado "Bill of Rights" Section 2. People may alter or abolish form of government - proviso. The people of this state have the sole and exclusive right of governing themselves, as a free, sovereign and independent state; and to alter and abolish their constitution and form of government whenever they may deem it necessary to their safety and happiness, provided, such change be not repugnant to the constitution of the United States. |

I say let everyone do as they please... damn the rule makers!!!
And remember... "Medicate responsibly" |

I agree with you to a point "pack leader". But the thing most people are forgetting is that we, the PEOPLE, are supposed to be the real "rule makers". Our government has stolen this country, plain and simple. |

The declaration of independence sets up the base and establishes the relationship between the people and the govt. We are the kings and queens and they are our "public servants". The fact that our rights are endowed by our creator and not by our govt is a force in law. If they didn't give us the rights, they have absolutely no authority to take them away or decide which ones we get or don't get.(Alcohol, cigs and coffee...those are OK) We only gave them power to defend and protect the rights we already have from others perpetrating a crime against another sovereign person's property or person. If you look, the unintended consequences of denying others rights are the cause of every security issue we face. Drug lords rule and corrupt the Mexican govt...their power and finances come from our prohibition of pot and coke. To escape a job harvesting coke for .05 an hour with guns on them, Mexicans come here to make $10/hour. Gangs shoot up our streets and make easy money, tax free...funded by prohibition. Al-Qaeda is funded by our buying their oil...which we restrict here. The Taliban is funded by opium...70% of which we buy..yet opium production is...you guessed it...prohibited in the States. |
