'So help me God' isn't in official presidential oath
When President Obama rests his hand on two historic Bibles to take his second-term oath of office Monday, he'll add a phrase not mentioned in the Constitution: "So help me God." First, there was a myth that the tradition of adding God to the oath began with George Washington.

It's not so much that any president adds 'so help me god' or places their hand on a bible, although I wish they wouldn't; the galling part is that the person administering the oath includes 'so you god', which is clearly not part of the oath.
