The court is looking at Prop 8 with regard to the SSM issue in the State of California. They are entertaining all the arguments so as to put them to rest.
Well, I don't know...Prop 8 also made it clear they would not allow polygamy in CA....

That's because under current law marriage is between two people only. The Morrill Anti-Bigamy Act is still standing and applies to all citizens. Therefore bigamy is unlawful unless practiced by those who come from a country where polygamy is lawful and are already legally married. Prop 8 was silent on the issue of polygamy which has no legal bearing on Prop 8 proceedings.

Nope, not true...why do you think they specified ONE man/ONE woman in prop 8 if polygamy wasn't an issue...

That's why prop 8 is being tossed. It is discriminatory against same-sex couples and their families.

Due to the Morrill Anti-Bigamy Act of 1862 and the fact that it was upheld by the Supreme Court in Reynolds v. United States, polygamy is irrelevant to any legal proceedings.

Irrelevant. The Morrill Anti-bigamy Act still stands. It has no legal bearing what-so-ever.

It was illegal BEFORE Prop 8, silly. It will remain illegal after Prop 8 is overturned by SCOTUS.

So does Baker v Nelson...

If prop 8 goes, that is one less leg polygamists have to deal with in their fight for 'marriage equality'....

Aw...but even if they got that law overturned...they would still have Prop 8 to deal with...you all are trying to make it not so...

The Morrill Ant-Bigamy statute is standing. Baker v. Nelson is meaningless drivel. Minnesota will soon make same-sex marriage the law.

It still stands with the supreme court...

And the US Supreme Court decision in that case stated what, exactly? Oh that's right, their decision didn't say anything because they never heard oral arguments, or wrote a decision. They dismissed the case for want of a substantial federal question.

Yet we have seen federal court after federal court and appellate court after appellate court ignore it.

Obviously the courts disagree with you on it's relevance. Actually, even those offering a pathetic defense in the two cases before the court seemingly agree, because they did not invoke it as binding precedent. Quite likely because they, unlike you, were aware that the decision of the Minnesota court is laughable in this day and age.

Seems to me the only people who bring up polygamy in regard to the right to same-sex marriage are those who are opposed to same-sex marriage. If there was a big push for polygamy in the U.S., it would have already started. There's no need for same sex marriage to be legalized everywhere for the pro-polygamy persons to start lobbying for legalization.

And even then, it wouldn't be seeking equal protection of the law.

Still can't count. Can you?
Just because a liberal host says it, doesn't mean it is true. And as that lovely article snippet you posted early today illustrates the arguments against polygamy will still hold strong when marriage equality comes to pass, because they are completely separate issues.

Now, why don't you come back to the topic at hand and prove that you are an intelligent adult by offering a legitimate state interest served by denying same sex couples equal protection of the law to marry?

Funny, the "journalist" was statement made by Abby Huntsman, daughter of GOP presidential candidate Jon Huntsman and she herself is a Republican.

What does that have to do with anything??? It's still a push for polygamy because of the push for ssm....
