The U.S. Supreme Court is considering two controversial cases involving whether same-sex couples have a constitutional right to marry: Proposition 8, California's 2008 ban on gay marriage, and the Defense of Marriage Act, which since 1996 has defined marriage for federal purposes as a union between a man and a woman.

And anyone who even SNIFFLES watching this can't deny they don't understand SAME SEX MARRIAGE isn't any different than what they see here in this AWESOME proposal I love how he just kneels and waits for her answer, never says a word. Dude stole my script!!(It's the same fantasy ending I had in every one of my marriage proposal dreams and two realities.)
It ain't the equipment any of us (gay or straight) want to commit to. It's the person INSIDE the body.
Good. Let's keep the government out of the whole thing. Let's keep insurance companies from prejudicially profiling unmarried people or gays as bad risks.
That's not what this debate is about. It's about MONEY! You're kidding someone, but it's not me.
Maybe for you it's different. If it is that is so sad.

Your "tone" was offensive to me!
Got it?
In what way?

Let's just say that I don't like to be pulled into conservative politics anymore than I do liberal politics. I don't know where your politics lie, but won't endorse either party directly or indirectly.

You can't bluster too much without making my point! I'm trying to keep it short but the subject is awkward when I'm dismissing stereotypical "manhood" while you are congratulating my actions as being properly "manly". It's not a comfortable place to be!

Anyway, it's late. Later, everyone!

As far as the state is concerned it is a legal contract to secure certain rights and legal protections. If you don't understand something o basic, you are either dimmer than I have given you credit for, or you realize your argument is on the ropes and you don't have a good defense to offer, just as you couldn't offer scientific evidence to back your claim that homosexuality was a medical condition.
anonymous wrote:
Are you interested in defying the separation of church and state
No, I am concerned with preserving it, which marriage equity does by denying religious groups to project their moral views onto others in defiance of their religious freedom.

or are you interested in tax breaks, inheritance protections, job quotas and other litigious bickering over how you get your various forms of titillation?
I am interested in equal protection of the law, as I have long stated.

Anyone with any kind of clarity knows your issue is as important as the freedom to pick your nose in public. Sorry, but condemning that isn't about to be a hate crime.
The truth is, a crime is a crime. That's all. "Hate Crime" is unconstitutional politics, but you're going to go all that way on that one too. You serve your master.
Sorry, but equality under the law as required by the US Constitution is a little more important than picking one's nose in public. However, you are free to keep doing so, it will warn people in advance of the kind of person you are.

The reality is that you made a claim, it is up to you to back up that claim with fact.

It is absurd, and childish, to think one can make a claim and that the opposition must disprove the notion they have been utterly incapable of factually supporting.

Your inability to articulate an intelligent argument doesn't make me dumb.

Feel free to back your BS, or in the alternative admit is was based upon nothing more than your own opinion.

Obama spends too much time resting, Americans claim

During the first three months of this year, the US president Barack Obama took at least three short holidays. Some Western media have expressed dissatisfaction with the overly frequent vacations of the American leader.

In the end of last year, Obama interrupted his vacation in Hawaii in order to prevent the collapse of the budget, after which he returned to pleasant pastime with his family. Weekly Standard points out that those holidays continued for nine days.

If they have already been in office review their voting record AND if they even bothered showing up to vote OR just voted "PRESENT". How many days did they actually show up to work?-_-

Party loyalty previously could be trusted...parties have been hijacked...don't be yellow dogs...would you vote for the devil himself if that's who your party backed? In my voting history I have voted democrat, independent, and republican. I now STRONGLY lean libertarian. THINK FOR YOURSELF! They are depending on you to believe the scripted lines they feed you and not do your own research. Our WHOLE system is damaged...including "the parties" and electoral college. You're quoting political posturing. Where's the law that makes that claim?
What were you attempting to say here?
anonymous wrote:
Here's the reality. There is a law called the Defense of Marriage act. That's the legal precedent and that defines marriage as an act between a man and a woman.
Of course, congress is limited by the constitution. Would you kindly point out where the federal constitution delegates the federal government the right to regulate marriage?
anonymous wrote:
Now, you can claim that that law is unconstitutional, but you can't claim that gay marriage is a right.
I never did. I claimed marriage was a fundamental right (I notice you are ignoring the 14 cases where the US Supreme Court referred to it as a fundamental right, which you had previously claimed was false). It looks like someone has difficulty admitting when they were wrong.
anonymous wrote:
The First Amendment establishes the separation of Church and State. If anything is is unconstitutional, subsidizing marriage in any form is. Once all financial prejudice is eliminated from the act of marriage, I'll grant you your "right" to marriage. Make no mistake, I have no intention of subsidizing anyone's breeding or frivolous acts of sexual gratification.
One could make that argument. You would lose. Marriage is a long established tradition in both the church and society. It is absurd to argue that it is a subsidy. One would have to be truly desperate to advance such a pathetic argument. It appears that someone would rather be right than president. Too bad you don't do a better job of offering a rational argument for your position.
anonymous wrote:
Pay your dam* taxes, and don't expect me to respect your biologically maladjusted behavior. You have to earn my respect the old fashion way, just like everyone else. And that's not a good way to start.
I pay my taxes.
I don't care what you think.
I think you are a moron (which is also my 1st Amendment right),
I don't give a crap about the respect of someone too ignorant to know what they are talking about, and too vain to admit when they were demonstrably incorrect.

I DO care about equal protection of the law as required by the 14th Amendment.

This all comes down to equal protection of the law, and constitutional rights. A law must have a rational basis to stand up to any judicial scrutiny. If the law involves a constitutional right, it must meet the higher level of judicial review known as strict scrutiny, which requires that a compelling state interest be served before constitutional rights may be infringed.

Can you indicate any rational basis to deny marriage equality? Can you indicate any way in which allowing marriage equality adversely impacts anyone who would not enter into such a union? I doubt you can.

Another fraudulent attack on the Constitution by this socialist, Marxist, Communist,[choose one or more] crowd who want to undermine the Constitution and the American way of life.

PROOF: The Constitution does not mention marriage.
The Constitution is a limiting document. It limits the power (authority) of the FEDERAL government.

The 10th Amendment states UNEQUIVOCALLY:
"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

Connect the dots. Marriage is an institution delegated to either the States, or to the people. The people and the State have spoken.

On the issue of Marriage, the federal government has NO STANDING to challenge State legislation.

This suit should be DISMISSED by any judge whose oath of office requires supporting and defending the U.S. Constitution.

The 10th Amendment tells me so ...

It doesn't matter how you spin it, the constitution affords for equal protection of the law for all, and those on your side of this debate seem utterly incapable of supporting their position with facts. What is worse, you offer words like demonic, which carries a religious connotation, and the constitution expressly forbids congress from making laws respecting establishment of religion.

Your comment about common sense is hysterical. Common sense dictates we follow the constitution.

Once again DUDE...

Wow! Nowhere does the bible specifically link homosexuality to the sin of Sodom. Perhaps, you might want to read Ezk 16:48-50, whereas it specifically states:

“As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, your sister Sodom and her daughters never did what you and your daughters have done.“‘Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy. They were haughty and did detestable things before me. Therefore I did away with them as you have seen.”

Now,“Does this sound like the sins of homosexuality or the sins of “so-called” righteous people, if I may very respectfully ask? In fact, Jesus wants your righteousness to surpass that of the hypocrites who lives among us, right (smile)?
