Wojar,
Evolution is not always linear.
It is common, well known knowledge that the modern human species shares up to 98% if their nuclear DNA sequence with chimpanzees and the other great apes.
As far as longevity is concerned, Neanderthal was very successful.
Quit trying to scandalize natural selection.

The Significance of the Scopes Trial
Scopes agreed to be the official victim. The irony is this: he was not sure that he had actually taught from the sections of the biology textbook that taught Darwinism. Had he been put on the witness stand and asked by the defense if he had taught evolution, he would have had to say he did not recall. He was never put on the stand.
......
The Progressives' rhetoric of democracy was nowhere to be found in the Times' articles on Bryan and creationism, for the editors suspected that Bryan had the votes. For the Progressives, democracy was a tool of social change, not an unbreakable principle of civil government; a slogan, not a moral imperative. Though often cloaked in religious terms, democracy was merely a means to an end. What was this end?
Control over other people's money and, if possible, the minds of their children.
THE STRATEGY
The city's merchants did very well from the influx of media people who could not resist seeing William Jennings Bryan take on Clarence Darrow.
The ACLU's strategy was to lose the case, appeal it, get it confirmed at the appellate court level, and appeal it to the U.S. Supreme Court, which they believed would overturn it. And why not? This was the Court that, two years later, determined that the state of Virginia had the right to sterilize a mentally retarded woman, without her knowledge or consent that this was the operation being performed on her. While she had a daughter of normal intelligence, this had no bearing on the case in the joint opinion of eight of the nine members of the Court. In the words of Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr., who wrote the Court's opinion: "Three generations of imbeciles are enough."
Bryan offered to pay Scopes' fine. Both sides wanted conviction. Darrow threw the case. He told the jury it had to convict, which it promptly did.
The ACLU hit an iceberg. The Dayton decision was overturned by the appellate court on a legal technicality. The case could not reach the Supreme Court's docket. Sometimes judges are more clever than ACLU attorneys expect.
The issue was democratic control over tax-funded education. Mr. Clark was against any such notion.

Except to state erroneously that we all evolved from monkeys, don't you have your own viewpoint on SOMEthing?. Can you not summarize the above cut-and-paste, analyse it and form an opinion? The scopes trial, btw, was held in the deep evangelical south. What a challence for the brilliant defence.

Fundamentalists began to withdraw from national politics and mainstream culture. The roaring twenties were not favorable times for fundamentalists. Their alliance with the Progressives began to break down. This alliance had gotten the eighteenth amendment passed. By the time Prohibition was repealed in 1933, the fundamentalists had begun their Long March into the hinterlands. Only in the 1976 Presidential election did they begin to re-surface. In 1980, they came out in force for Reagan. Two events mark this transformation, neither of which receives any attention by historians: the "Washington for Jesus" rally in the spring of 1980 and the "National Affairs Briefing Conference" in Dallas in September.

CONCLUSION

The Scopes trial was a media circus. The play and movie that made it famous three decades later, Inherit the Wind, was an effective piece of propaganda. The website of the law school of the University of Missouri, Kansas City, offers a good introduction to the story of this trial. But this version has a hard time competing with the textbook versions and the documentaries.

The victors write the textbooks. These textbooks are not assigned in Bryan College, located in Dayton, Tennessee — or if they are, they are not believed.

There is no Darrow College.

Come on now, l'il tacky (posing as amerlady). Svetlana is getting anxious as to whether she can be our president.

FOREIGN INFLUENCE
Is this an example of the “foreign influence” the Founders and Framers wanted to avoid?
Nikita Khrushchev’s daughter, Svetlana Khrushchev, came to the United States of America and became a naturalized citizen. While her parents, Nikita and Mrs. Khrushchev, were still living, she married a wealthy Texan who was the son of two U.S. citizen parents. The newly-weds were domiciled in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
In the tenth month of the marriage, Svetlana delivered a healthy baby girl who was named Kardashian Jane at a Dallas (TX) hospital. Driving home from the hospital, Svetlana and her husband of ten months will both killed in a horrific automobile crash. Fortunately, Kardashian Jane was not injured.
Little Kardashian Jane was taken in by her maternal grandparents, Nikita and Mrs. Krushchev, when she was only a few days old. She was raised in Moscow, U.S.S.R. according to the Soviet custom and was thoroughly schooled in Marxist-Leninist political philosophy and economics. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Moscow majoring in Marxist Economics. She also wrote beautiful Russian folksongs in her native Russian language.
Bored with the drabness of life in the former Soviet Union, she returned to her birthplace (Dallas, TX) when she was 27-years old. She lived continuously in Dallas. When she turned fifty-years old, she placed her name in nomination for President of the United States of America despite the fact that she spoke almost no English after all those years.
Is there any question about her eligibility under Article II,§ 1,¶ 5 of the [original] United States Constitution?
BTW, her candidacy had the full support of the U.S. Communist Party and the Teamsters Union.

Yeah, right. God created evidence of primitive humans as an elaborate ruse. Quite a sense of humor.

All the evidence of protein evolution was a grand joke by the Almighty!

God's a really funny guy, according to creationists.

Hey, rouge the rube
How do you like this scam:
In order to give hard-working American families less expensive clothes and other non-food items, Wal-Mart buys soft goods from China at very, very low prices, and pays for the goods with good ol’ American dollars – the preferred currency around the world. Because of the very low prices, American consumers are BETTER OFF than before.
Thus, China has excess dollars on hand and nothing to do with them.
So we make this deal with them: you give us our dollars back (in denominations of $TRILLIONS of dollars in return for little pieces of paper that say “IOU” for the same $Trillions of dollars payable in thirty years and not one day before. You might think that China is too smart to fall for this SCAM but they do. They simply ask that we pay them interest at the fixed rate of 2.54% per annum for thirty years. IF we do decide to pay the principal sum back in 2042, it will be with highly inflated dollars. Thus, OUR inflation will cause the loss of $billions of dollars to China.(Remember it’s a zero-sum game.) Pretty slick, huh?
This means that our new found cash cow (China) gives the United States virtually unlimited borrowing power. Now you probably think BORROWING is BAD, but watch this. By spending more money than the federal government takes in by taxation and other revenue sources (say,$1 TRILLION a year more) to buy votes through entitlement programs that are paid for with dollars borrowed from China, the administration is able to have its cake and eat it also by (honestly) telling the American public that taxpayer money is NOT being used to fund entitlement programs to buy votes – all the money to pay for welfare, etc. is being borrowed from our political enemies in China.
And if we decide to stiff them? What are they going to do, sue us? Ha Ha Ha – LAUGHS ON THEM.
====
No wonder l’il tacky and her many aliases and rouge the rube think Romney is a shoo-in. They have no idea how modern elections are won without doing anything illegally.
