RON CALDERON still hoping for more fireworks
A bill by Sen. Ron Calderon, D-Montebello, could ensure that those types of celebrations blaze through chillier times. Currently, you can buy fireworks in California from the end of June to just after the Fourth of July. His Senate Bill 777 would open a window between Dec. 26 and just after New Year's to indulge your pyrotechnic desires.

I'm sure the FBI will leave him alone after this patriotic gesture.
Follow the Central valley water basin money. Remember they got Capone for income tax evasion.
Time to take down the Calderon Gang and the City of Industry.

Rats leaving the sinking ship
State Sen. Ron Calderon, D-Montebello, returned to work this week after ducking the press and everyone else in Sacramento for days, understandably shying away from the public as the FBI raided his office....
But that doesn't mean the Calderons' kind of special-interest shenanigans,
often tied to whoever has donated money to their campaign war chests most recently,
aren't worth skewering while we wait for the investigatory shoes to drop.
My intention at this point is to do my job I was elected to do, attend my hearings, get my bills passed out of committee to the floor and do the work of the state," Calderon said on his return to work.
Problem is, a lot of those bills that Calderon works so diligently to pass out of committee benefit not his real constituents or Californians at large but very minute interests associated with his fundraising and that of the rest of the Calderon clan. That's probably one
reason why equally long-term public servants from our area, including Rep. Grace Napolitano have broken ties with them.
The only other legislator known to have been subpoenaed in the case, Los Angeles Sen. Kevin de Leon has carried legislation that would have a financial impact on medical businesses that are clients of Tom Calderon, the former assemblyman who is Ron Calderon's brother, the Sacramento Bee reported.
Tom Calderon has announced plans to run for his brother's seat when Ron Calderon is termed out next year. The FBI says it has questions for Tom Calderon as well, and this spring it raided the offices of two businesses that are clients of his, including a hospital on whose board of directors he sits.
A number of legislators who have declined to answer reporters' questions about whether they have been contacted by the FBI have carried legislation related to this facility, Pacific Hospital of Long Beach, which performs a lot of back surgeries, and for other businesses connected to California's lucrative workers' compensation system.
Water-district cash also seems to be involved in the Ron Calderon investigation.
When legislators allegedly spend most of their time raising and spending money from special interests rather than working to improve the lot of everyday Californians, this is what happens. But when we the people fail to call our representatives on their chicanery, we get the kind of government we deserve.
Voters ought to select the kind of leaders who won't get caught up in personal enrichment in the first place. But the Capitol can corrupt over time.
It's incumbent on us to keep a close watch on our electeds' priorities if there's any hope for keeping Sacramento clean.
