As the world warms up, ski seasons are getting shorter. And its having tremendous impact on resorts that depend on the snowy season.

Judged: 2 2 2 The predictions are the warming will accelerate over the next century. So that is a short term solution |

Judged: 2 1 1 Skiing isn't a priority to me, you can always go further north. The Earth is changing, get used to it. |

Judged: 1 1 1 Not paid much attention to the melting at the poles, it would appear. Yeah, in your lifetime you'll probably be fine. And who cares about the next generation == did I get that right? Answer these questions with me without running off, ok? So why is the Arctic melting OLD ice so rapidly? http://www.youtube.com/watch... Why the 97%+ correlation between CO2 and temperature. http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/paleo/globalwarming/... |

Judged: 1 1 1 There's nothing anyone can do about it except adapt. If the Earth doesn't change, it will die. I bet I'm more "green" that anyone here on Topix but I'm not this way because it's gonna save the planet, I just like the new technology. |

Judged: 2 1 I Grow a lot of my own food and eggs, I continue to plant fruit trees, recycle, to include green waste, lots of mulch used, drive an electric car, use solar to both heat my water and provide most of my own electricity to my home. I do it to be practical, not to comply with any hippy agenda. I don't have a "green" bone in my body, I just enjoy doing it this way, as my choice of lifestyle. I have no illusion that it's saving the planet or anything close. We'd have to eliminate China to stop any real pollution. I figure nature will eventually balance things out, and I realize MAN is not essential to Earth's survival. It will go on without us if need be. |

Judged: 2 1 1 Why thank you but I do relinquish that title to you, the best at being a truly MAJOR MAJOR nut job. |

So you think you are self-sufficient to about fifty percent, just guessing. |

Judged: 3 I'll take Joe's efforts to change away from fossil fuel, whether he 'feels' it necessary or not. If all people were like him, we'd be headed in the generally proper direction. Yeah, I'll take his way. |

Judged: 1 I couldn't put a percentage on it, but I can tell you why I can't do more. We are enslaved by the government monopolies. Right now we have mandatory sewer charges of $250 a month, water rates are ridiculous, and the electric company fights you by pushing anti-green laws at every opportunity in order to maintain their ridiculous profit margin. For instance, cut from the grid with a totally independent system and your home is immediately condemned. They are even planning to bill us for the rain. I'll never be able to be self-sufficient because so many people expect the government to do everything for them and vote for that type of politicians. Independent living is highly discouraged in this state. For instance, this year I want to put in at least twenty more solar panels, but have to wait until the solar company finds out if the city wants a 20K (extortion fee) from me for daring to zero out my electric bill. I would build a new barn using solar panels for a roof like people are doing on the mainland, but guess what. They won't give me a building permit for it. Hawaii says they are green, but in practice they are in the stone age and anti-green to the max. |
