and so is your dream of any sweeping scotus rulings, ever...
once the federal govt has no right to dictate a definition of marriage, the scotus cannot dictate a definition of marriage?

you guys dont think far enough ahead, and I am fine with that,
but you must sense that the decision will be on state's rights with all agreeing gays have no rights as to marriage...

OK just remember were "marriage" came from, It came from GOD. Marriage is a HOLY matromony between a man and a women in GODs presence. Marriage is only recognized as male and female. So with that being said then the same sex is a unholy thing.
So just call it a civil union or contract.

I don't think the government has any business regulating or recognizing the private associations of consenting adults no matter what form those associations may take. The government should be association neutral and deal only with individuals as individuals. Neither should any private entity be required by the government to recognize or ignore any individual's private associations if that private entity wishes to either consider or ignore those associations in associating with any individual. Freedom of association should be accorded all consenting adults with the terms of association strictly a matter for the members of the association to decide.

wow, with all the primary sources out there today on the argument, you gave me a biased and un-cited secondary source...

Kennedy SAID:
"The problem -- the problem with the case is that you're really asking, particularly because of the sociological evidence you cite, for us to go into uncharted waters, and you can play with that metaphor, there's a wonderful destination, it is a cliff. Whatever that was."

now consider that you are reading what other people say they said, and i am reading what THEY said...

Sweetie, you evidently know precious little about the history of marriage according to your own choice of religion. Christians insisting on "holy matrimony" and not just a marriage in the eyes of whatever state/country you were living in, only about 500 years old if you chose Catholic, considerably less than that if you've chosen Protestant. For the first 15 centuries of Western Christianity, you needed the Church's blessings to have sex for procreative purposes, marriage was strictly an option available to couples blessed with the sex. It wasn't a required sacrament until the early 16th Century and making it one was one of the issues involved in the Protestant Reformation. Until that time, most marriages were civil, primarily because Church marriages did not allow for divorce.

Something else you might want to consider, despite the certitude you have in your choice of beliefs, not all those who identify with the same God as you do have the same beliefs. There are many Churches which are more than happy to extend God's blessings on the marriage of same sex couples and in some cases, doing so for decades. They may not be your kind of Christians, but that don't matter, you have no say in whether they are God's kind of Christians or not. That would be His call to make, now isn't it?

Sorry, but we're not going to settle for separate and hopefully equal simply because you have chosen a version of God with questionable coping skills. No one is insisting He or any of His Churches bless same sex marriages. He gets no more deference than that.

no, no it did not. your church didn't even bless the state sponsored marriages that had been going on for millenia until the 24th century or so...

you should learn about the issue before you post.

your church's holy rite of matrimony is not the same thing as marriage, they are two separate and distinct things.

Um, no - marriage is a contract between two people. No god involved at all.

I assure you that while your religion may be important to you, it and all other religions are irrelevant to marriage law.

This is so funny you tickle me with your words of lack of understanding. Marriage has been around over 2000yrs.
God cannot bless a same sex couple into marriage because this is sin. Just like a lie or murder. A sin is a sin in Gods eyes. You my friend cannot over rule Gods word, no one can. You may at your own risk like the rest of the world does.

I am not talking about religion here. The one that created all and is in control, but you don't know these things.sorry about that.Marriage and contract are 2 different things. Once you understand what marriage is, then you will know who God is.

There is no god.

And, again, any god or religion is irrelevant to marriage law.
