This yoyo-effect on the climate is thought to have persisted for a million years, causing half of all species to go extinct. By studying the world's biggest volcanic eruptions, scientists including Dr Jourdan have been able to establish the importance of the speed at which our climate changes, on how many species go extinct.

And the bad news is that modern climate change is faster than the change caused by Northern Australian volcanoes which resulted in a mass extinction event.

"We emit greenhouse gas 25 times faster than those volcanoes," he says.

Dr Jourdan says it would be a mistake to take comfort from the fact that humans have been emitting greenhouse gases for a much shorter time than volcanic eruptions which caused mass extinction, albeit at a faster rate.

"A mass extinction may take a long time, but you need much less to have serious consequences."

with your posts demonstrate your hypocrisy. On the one hand you favor reductions in CO2 emissions, but on the other you keep adding more with each post.

You deny your own "science".

Have you not noticed that I don't reply to most of your obscene, defaming posts?

P.S. It is not my fault that you don't understand science or mathematics. There's nothing that I can do for you other than tell you 'educate yourself.' Oh I know Arizona, if you are there really, is not like Minnesota in summer. Again, not my fault.

Obscene and defaming?

Put down the thesaurus, and address your hypocrisy... and that of all the other warmists who ignore the "science" they tout.

But you gotta do that without pumping more evil CO2 into the atmosphere, else you'd be a hypocrite defending your hypocrisy.

Why?

You're not saying anything new ... other that pumping more CO2 into the atmosphere while claiming your "science" says need to be curtailed.

What an untenable argument you have... and I'm enjoying watching you squirm.

Have you ever seen a supervolcano?

They emit CO2 25 times faster than normal volcanic eruptions, such as surround the Pacific ring of fire. Look it up.

Don't panic, nature has adapted to human CO2 emissions. Major volcanic events and orbital factors cause climate change, not our fossil fuel use, returning carbon to the atmosphere where it belongs.

The deeper researchers dig into the dramatic slowdown in global warming during the past 15 years, the more their findings point to natural climate variability as the cause – rather than any purported end to human-triggered climate change.

The latest example of this conclusion comes from a pair of scientists from the United States and China trying to identify where the expected heat has been hiding.

They attribute the slowdown in warming, as others do, to heat taken up by the world's oceans, especially at depths below about 2,300 feet.

"You might think that climate-change deniers are short on scientific literacy. But everyone’s heard the facts about greenhouse gases. At this point, deniers are actually better versed in science than are accepters. Rather, political forces shape their attitudes. Marshall quotes the ethicist Clive Hamilton:'Denial is due to a surplus of culture rather than a deficit of information.'”

Heat taken up by the ocean's, first was delayed by infra-red energy absorption by man-made excess CO2, methane, oxides of nitrogen, SF6, etc.

In other words, there is no total slowdown in man-made GHGs warming, but other methods of storing the delayed infra-red energy made available by man-made excess GHGs.

This is what the idiots just don't get and they scream about the Mexican border & illegals. Climate change is going to see mass movements of populations all over the planet with no where to go.
But of course in a deniers world it all turns out peaceful and everyone gets rich on that filter down effect of man made CO2 flooding the planet.
