It's a shame, that victims have to feel such pain. I too like many was a victim of a perpetrator for years, my own brother. No-one knows what it's like to pray in your bed at night that they won't sneak it to touch you, to have flashbacks of the sounds of their feet walking down the hall, the smell of them or the alcohol on their breath, the stench of their cigarettes etc etc. These painful memories follow you and haunt you into all your future relationships. I've mostly been helped by just journaling those painful memories page after page after page. It shouldn't be up to the victim to fix the "problem" aka the pervert. It should be a priority in our legal system to protect our innocent children. Can anyone tell me, if they ever caught the monster who kidnapped the Florida girl Summer Thompson, had their fun, and disposed of her little body in the trash??

I would support his appeal. The fact that this man kept harrassing him into adulthood. The pedophile was obsessed with him. Any reasonable person would have lost it.

I think he should be pardoned....TIME SERVED! Being Molested is a far worse punishment than any Prison or Jail time could be. Bethevoice hit the nail on the head.

Good for Vargas. The molester is where he belongs now.

The jury should have used their right of "Jury Nullification" as the charges were unfair. Jury Nullification is the same as saying "We refuse to convict". It can be done by a single juror, more than one juror, or all of them. If I were on that jury, I would have done so by simply saying "Not Guilty". If questioned or hammered by the judge, I would then say: "I refuse to convict" under my right of Jury Nullification. Look it up on the internet. There are far too many laws that should be erased, and Nullification will do it.

Here in Vallejo years ago, 7 year old Jeremy Stoner was kidnapped, raped, murdered and dumped in a slough somewhere near Suisun. The guilty person, Shawn Quincy Melton was let off due to some kind of mistake made by police or someone else. Melton eventually moved somewhere else as he was hated by the whole city and everyone else that knew about it. I personally knew the Stoner family so it was especially sad for me. I think Melton may have moved to the Florida area, I'm not sure. I wonder if he re-offended and is off the streets now. I would do the same thing that Vargas did if it were someone in my family. I'd blow his brains out.

Even people who don't agree with capital punishment would understand this killing. Child predators should be fed to sharks. After being castrated with a butter knife, of course.

The lesson here is that California law permits murder as long as the perpetrator can label the victim a child molester. Nine years is NOT a harsh sentence for planned murder and the prosecutor should be fired for accepting a voluntary manslaughter plea.

Aaron Vargas had some kind of sexual relation with Darrell McNeill from his childhood to the time he was 30. Vargas had many years to go to the police but decided to use a gun instead.

A molested 11 year old is not what I'd call being in a 'sexual relationship'. Plus how many female victims have gone to the police because of a stalker, only to be told that without solid evidence, they can't charge him? My only problem with Vargas was waiting too long to kill the guy. As soon as he could handle a gun was when he should have ended this man's life.

Vargas had his manhood STOLEN from him before he was even a man...let's put you in that same situation and see how willing you would be to let everybody know about it. And, California law only permits murder if you are a celebrity. The DA was probably happy to get any sort of conviction for this case, and probably went home and got drunk when it was over.
