This is not news! California’s legislature has spent way beyond our means for years all while detuning business here. We have coddled illegals, supported the largest welfare payroll in the country, and become subservient to the inefficient civil servant unions.

It's all about the illegal hordes from Latin America and their anchor babies. They take, take, take! They give nothing back but crime.

And the idiot who wrote this article blames Prop 13. Stupid liar jerk!

I lived in CA for 24 years and was never so glad to get the heck out. Not that Oregon is much better since the legislators have the same idiot mentality and can't do simple math. EVERYTHING in CA cost so much more than almost anywhere else in the US. Property taxes were reasonable IMO, but then add state witholding, local tax, sales tax, utility "fees", etc plus all the added stupid regulations and laws, and the state isn't the best of environments to try to survive in. At least not for the middle class taxpayer. If you're illegal or in some other such "sacred cow" groups, it's not bad with all the generous social programs. Another BIG contributor is all the special interest unions and overpaid state workers and their benefits. If they won't take big cuts to solve or help the budget crisis, then the state should fail. Dissolve the unions and get things back to a sustainable level and the state will be better off in the long run.

To the idiots in Sacramento who are supposed to run the government of California the free ride is over. You have ended up bankrupting California and running off a lot of the business's here you can't keep rising taxis. Cut out the spending on your pork belly projects and start enforcing the illegal immigration laws that are on the books, In others start deporting all illegals.

This article blames too much of California's economic crisis on not collecting enough property tax. I lived California in the 1970's before Prop. 13 was passed that put a cap on the amount property taxes could be raised. In the five years prior California could not run a balanced budget without raising property taxes sometimes 25% each year. When someone paid a too high a price for a house on a street, CA tax assessors responded by greatly raising property taxes for everyone else on the street.

This article also made no mention of the costs of illegal immigrants adding to California's bankruptcy. California want U.S. Taxpayers money but does nothing substantial to mitigate the cost of it illegal residents.

Illegal aliens were not as big of a problem back then And think what property taxis would look like today.

So, do all you progressive, liberal, socialist,
open border, anti Arizona, anti SB 1070, Obamabot
and Pelosibot freaks STILL contend that its a mere coincidence that THE STATE with the most ILLEGAL
ALIENS is in the moral and financial kerapper?

The only hope left for California is to bulldoze it
and start over, after declaring Bankrupcy.

But, this is what you liberal zealots wanted, and
YOU got it! Welcome to Mexifornia, where english is
the second language, and Islam is the majority religion, and is DEAD BROKE! Thanks guys.

I'm moving to Arizona. You can keep this septic tank/litterbox and breeding tank you liberals created. Enjoy the fruits of
your labor! Taaaaaah! I'll bring the flag with me and turn out the lights when I leave.

I pity the innocents- the ones who voted against the present leaders. All the idiots who voted the legislators in are just as guilty and to a lesser extent, those who did not vote at all. I've seen Ca. several times but I am thankful daily that i don't live there. The numbers are out there for anyone who cares to look. What is the # of hospitals closed due to the free health care for illegals- 60?
